RANDOM BOUT! NAPJU MMESLI VS GLADIATOR #337

Stonefist Heavyhand W 1 L 0 T 0 Fame 3

Heavyhand Stonefist W:0, L:0, T:0, Fame:0

The short and squat dwarf is covered from neck to foot in heavy armor, complete with a large shield in his right hand and a broad axe in is left. Across his back is straped a crossbow and a finely woven basket tops his head. Adorning his armor can be seen images of his heraldry, images of dwarves and elephants duking it out, images of dwarves burning in lava and a finely protrayed portrait of a portrait of cheese. On his back is a single word. Boatmurdered...

Tipping his basket hat to the crowds he udders a single phrase.
"Baskets for sale! Only 5sp apiece! High quality!"

Numbery Bits:

initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

Initiative 21 I take it I am going first :P

You'd be surprised--some people have crazy-high Initiative. :-)

Someone said something about a ridiculous initiative score? (I even rolled pretty averagely. :D

Sorry, please just PM me if I am MIA...

Also GL sir and do you speak goblin?

A large orc pats Napju'Mme on the back with his only arm. Perhaps the other was torn off training angry goblins. He says to Napju'Mme, "Vja avu. Azu de yquid'vi vji piy'quid vifa."

The goblin beats his chest with his bare hands. He is a large goblin, 3 foot 2 inches tall and about 35 pounds. He has a large head with oversized teeth. They appear sharper and longer than a normal goblins. His body is covered by the finest and perhaps smallest Orcish mithral armor ever crafted, a black cloak and armbands, and boots small enough to fit on his miniature body.

He exclaims to his opponent, "Napju Mmesli!" pointing at himself. "Ne ophic'mo uzo!" pointing to his opponent. He begins letting out a long growl similar to that of a small dog. The sound oscillates as he shakes his head side to side. Clearly becoming angered he takes into his tiny hands a large club, the only apparent weapon on his body, almost as tall as he.

Initiative 19

Spoiler:
intiative: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Opps, meant to post under this alias, and yes you are going first. Have fun.

Surprise Round
Wowzers. I guess I had a pretty bad chance of going first! And sure, I can pm you next time :)
Me no spraken gobo. Me xenophobic. Me spraken Ancient Dwarfish!

Springing into action, unusual for a dwarf laiden in heavy armor, Stonefist Heavyhand adopts a low crouch, shield high and in front, and barrels forward.

move action, move to E11. You are in L10 BTW

I can bezerk as my surprise round action, correct? If so, I do that.

As Napju'Mme's head continue to shake side-to-side, he stands still. His mouth frothing a milky brown foam.

I'm very new btw too, so don't hesitate to let me know if I am doing something wrong. :)

Stonefist Heavyhand W 1 L 0 T 0 Fame 3

By beserk, you mean rage? Yes you can, and since it is a free action you can still take a standard action:)

Move = standard action or just a 5 ft step?

In the surprise round you may take a swift action, a standard (or move) action, as many free actions as you want, and a 5 ft step (if you've made no other movement).

Where does it say that rage is a free action? (Not that I am complaining) Any protips on which types are free and swift?

Stonefist Heavyhand W 1 L 0 T 0 Fame 3
Rage wrote:
A barbarian can call upon inner reserves of strength and ferocity, granting her additional combat prowess. Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds. Temporary increases to Constitution, such as those gained from rage and spells like bear's endurance, do not increase the total number of rounds that a barbarian can rage per day. A barbarian can enter rage as a free action. The total number of rounds of rage per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours do not need to be consecutive.

Ahhhh thank you. I rage and then charge forward to E10, great club in hand.

Stonefist Heavyhand W 1 L 0 T 0 Fame 3

From L10 to E10 is 35 feet. You can move that fast?
Assuming you can, I line up a mighty swing across the midsection!
If you can't then I move up the nessisary amount to stand toe to toe with you.

Arbiter:

Slash from the left!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Grevious wound!: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Reading back on my submission, I realize I made some mistakes...
Drop 3 AC from Dex to +1
Add +1 Damage from weapon enchantment.
Remove ranged line and replace with:
Light Crossbow +4 (+3 BAB, +1 Dex) (1d8/19-20/x2)

Thanks and sorry for the mistakes!

Attack 22 for 14 damage.

Sorry F10

Stonefist Heavyhand W 1 L 0 T 0 Fame 3

np :)
Then I take a moveto go up to E11 and standard to attack.
That was round 1 btw and it is your turn.

If my memory is serving me correctly, I get hitpoints from the rage constitution bonus, I just lose them when I 'unrage', correct?

Stonefist's agile blow barely strikes the goblin through his finely crafted mail. The crowd can hear a whoosh of air escape the goblin's chest.

Visibility angered the goblin jumps back to action, leaving his club on the ground. He bares his narrow sharp claws and teeth, clawing and biting at Stonefist.

Arbiter:

bite to-hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
confirm bite critical: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
bite damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
bite crit damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
bite - grapple attempt: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
claw1 to-hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
claw1 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
claw2 to-hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
claw2 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

bite 27 (nat 20) crit confirm 24 Damage 6 (if crit 11)
- special -feral gnasher gains the grab ability with her bite attack. A feral gnasher can use this ability on a creature up to one size category larger than she is.
- grapple attempt 18
claw1 18 damage 8
claw2 26 damage 6

Stonefist Heavyhand W 1 L 0 T 0 Fame 3

Ouch... you beat my ac by 1 and my CMD by 1...
Round 2

Stonefist grunts in pain as the small goblin latches on with its sharp teeth and gouges him with one of his claws, the other one glancing off of his armor. That makes him mad. Mad enough to be a basketcase! He struggles madly against the clamped goblin

Arbiter:

Raging, +4 str, con, +6hp, -2 AC
Grappled, -4 dex, -2 attack
Took 17 damage.
Grapple Check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

I am going to assume a grapple check of 12 is not going to cut it.... Your up!

Indeed a 12 is not good enough. I got some lucky rolls. Let's see if they keep up.. I will need it. :)

Edit: I double checked my FCMD and I am pretty sure my rage strength more or less offsets the loss of dexterity from grappled condition.

Napju'mme shakes his jaw, nips at the dwarf's armor with his claws.

Arbiter:

continue the grapple +5 circumstance for continuing the grapple, no AoO due to 'grab': 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

^if maintain grapple, 'standard action' attack
bite tohit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
bite damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

claw1 tohit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
claw1 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

claw2 tohit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
claw2 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Continue the grapple 15

^If grapple is continued:
Bite 9
1st Claw 19 Damage 8
2nd Claw 17 Damage 7

Stonefist Heavyhand W 1 L 0 T 0 Fame 3

maintaining the grapple is a standard action (or move if you have greater grapple) so you cannot full attack at the same time. That said, neither the grapple or the second claw hit so don't worry about it this round.
Round 3

While he managed to free himself from the wretched goblins lockjaw hold he did take damage from the creatures claw in the process. Adopting a defensive position, Stonefist slashes upwards with a light slash that comes no where near hitting.

Arbiter:

Rage, +4 str and con, +6hp, -2 Ac
Fighting defensivly, -4 to hit, +3 dodge
Taken 25 damage

to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
damage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Attack 10 for 12 damage.
Come on dice!

Ahhh 'a natural attack' I see. I don't believe you took any damage round 2 since I failed to maintain the grapple. I only get the attacks if maintain it. I think you are correct that I only get one attack if I were to succeed. (I sure won't complain if someone else double checks me.) :D

Having narrowly dodged the dwarf's strike, the orc trainer urgently yells something in goblin. The goblin attacks with all of his might.

Arbiter:

bite to-hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
bite damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
bite grapple confirm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
claw1 to-hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
claw1 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
claw2 to-hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
claw2 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

bite 15, 5, 'lockjaw' confirm if needed 24
claw1 24, 6
claw2 10, 8

Stonefist Heavyhand W 1 L 0 T 0 Fame 3

alright I will ret con the 8 damage from the first claw, thanks :)
Yes you only get 1 attack during a grapple, btw check out animal fury once gou get to level 4 ,') It is a feral gnashers dream come true. And later hive totem is very nice!
Round 4

Having easilly dodged the goblins clumsy blows Stonefist strikes again with a mighty down chop!

arbiter:

Rage, +4 str and con, +6 hp, -2 AC
Fighting defensivly, -4 to hit, +3 dodge
Taken 17 damage

Downward Chop!: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Bleeding Blow!: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

...That is way off...
Attack 5 for 9 damage
A 1 and a 2? Yeash!

Napju, I will give you until 5am eastern time tomorrow to post an action otherwise you will suffer arena freeze and Stonefist will have an action. If another day goes by then you will forfeit.

Stonefist Heavyhand W 1 L 0 T 0 Fame 3

After the complete fail of the last swing the goblin seems somehow mesmerized by the show of poor swordsmanship. Well what worked once was worth doing again!

Arbiter:

Rage, +4 str and con, +6 hp, -2 AC
Fighting defensivly, -4 to hit, +3 dodge
Taken 17 damage

Downward Chop!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Bleeding Blow!: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Friggen dice :P
To hit of 8 for 8 damage.

OK I am calling this a forfeit victory for Stonefist. VICTORY TO STONEFIST HEAVYHAND!

RANDOM MATCH--BASHA vs Faust. Good luck! May the best dwarf win! ;-)

Gung-Ho Lunatic

initiative:

17 for me with the higher Init bonus, so I'm first. Good luck!

[ooc] Round 0

The dwarf sizes up his opponent and says a few words of power, vanishing.

The BASHA enters the arena, this time with a huge amount of weapons starpped to his back. Two Polearms ,his sword a large flail, and three nets are visible.
His opponent out of sight he takes a five foot step behind the collumn and starts casting a spell no visible effects.

arbiter:

five foot step to B-9
I break up the casting of enlarge person into two standard actions

take the first standard action now and complete the casting next round.

Yeah, I can't pass it up when I can get it at Level 3, you know. And, whoaaaaa, what's up with THE BASHA casting spells now? WHAAAT? ;-)

Round 1

No sign of the dwarf.

Arbiter:
I'll draw my deathwatch scroll and cast it. Rounds remaining: (100/100)

Gung-Ho Lunatic

Sorry, busy day.

arbiter:

The BASHA appears again in AB-10-11 now twice as large as before.

No worries man, it's all good. Round 2

Arbiter:
Cast Aid. Temp HP: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Invis rounds remaining (28/30), Death watch rounds remaining (99/100), Aid rounds remaining (30/30), Aid Temp HP (7/7)

Gung-Ho Lunatic

"I'm starting to get bored here ,give me something to smash."

BASHA cast another spell and draws his flail ready to bash some heads in....

arbiter:

cast mage armor

draw flail

Sorry guys, appears my life troubles are not ending any time soon. Hope I can be back and playing in the next month.

Stonefist, sorry for the delays.

Fell by the blow the goblin flies nearly 7 feet into the air. Blood and spit streams out of his mouth as he strikes the ground unconscious.

Round 3

Faust does not respond to the orc's goading.

Arbiter:
Cast Bull's Strength. Invis rounds remaining (27/30), Death watch rounds remaining (98/100), Aid rounds remaining (29/30), Aid Temp HP (7/7), Bull's Strength rounds remaining (30/30).

Gung-Ho Lunatic

Gung-Ho Lunatic

Let's fast forward to the point where the fight starts.

arbiter:

keep my readied action until it triggers

Crap, I just typed everything up and my internet went out for a minute and ate my post. Grrr. I'm going to type an abridged version in the spoiler without all the remaining times on my spells as I don't feel like doing all of that again.

Perception DC 20 to see me on Round 5, 27 to see me on Round 6.

Rounds 5, 6, 7 nothing visible

Round 8

After a few seconds of inactivity, the dwarf emerges, enlarged and with a duplicate of himself. The twins cast a spell, trying to subdue the orc.

I'm at I/J-10/11. You need a DC 16 WS or you are paralyzed. If you fail your save, I will move to E/F-10/11 and draw my axe. If you succeed, I will move to H/I-6/7 and draw my axe. If you fail, you may use a full-round action on your turn to make another save.

Arbiter:
Stealth roll for moving in round 5. 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20. Stealth roll for moving in round 6. 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27 Round 5 move down to H-10 and cast Divine Favor from a scroll. Round 6 move down to I-10 and draw Enlarge potion. Round 7 Drink Enlarge potion (I/J-10/11) and create duplicate with trickery domain. Round 8 cast Hold Person and move depending on his save results.

Gung-Ho Lunatic

arbiter:

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Ah man,you let me wait that long for this? No way the BASHA makes that save. will save 9

Ok, but now it's your turn. You're paralyzed, but you can take a save again as a full-round action.

Gung-Ho Lunatic

arbiter:

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

nat 1.We could have had that shorter you know?Anyway you win.Don't want to look like a sore loser but seriously this is bitter.

Well, with 2 will saves you actually have a decent change to shrug off the effects before I can attack. I had to buff myself in case the spell missed. I know it's frustrating, but I didn't do it to be a jerk. I did it out of much respect for the BASHA's capabilities, no joke.

Round 9

Coup de grace is 39 damage to the big guy.

Arbiter:
5 ft move up, coup de grace. Damage with battle axe, enlarged, whetstone. 6d6 + 21 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 1, 2, 6) + 21 = 39

VICTORY TO FAUST!

Gung-Ho Lunatic

The damage doesn't actually kill him but a DC49 fortn save is to high I guess.Still for completenes.

arbiter:

7 + 1d20 ⇒ 7 + (19) = 26

Hah rolled a 19 on the d20 ,almost made that save.

Random bout! Boe vs Llyr

Male Half Elven Rogue (Scout) HP: 27/27 | AC: 18, T: 14, FF: 14 | Fort: +4, Ref: +7, Will: +2 | Init: +6 | Perception: +12 (+13 for traps) | Resist 2 Cold, +8 Fort save against cold weather

A massive ulfen enters the arena dressed in beer stained platemail. Scars can be seen running up his neck, disappearing in his shaggy brown hair. Bleary grey eyes scan the arena, then with a shrug, he pops the cork on one of his liquor flasks and takes a long drink. Shaking his head as the burn warms his belly, he readies his shield and longsword. A gleaming silver mug hangs from his neck. "Come on already, before my buzz wears off!"

Arbiter:
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

14 Initiative

Boe and her dog Caesar come walking calmly into the arena. She's a little shaken from her previous defeat, but doesn't let it show. This guy doesn't look like one to use poison. Hopefully this bout will go better, she thinks. She's holding a large shield in one hand and a chakram in the other. She's got on a breastplate, and her dog is wearing chain armor. Across her back is secured an earth breaker hammer and several pilum.

Arbiter:

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Initiative 6. You're first in the surprise round.
