Build advice: Gestalt - Oracle of Time / Gunslinger(Mysterious Stranger)

Hello all,

I am in need of some build advice. I'm going to be running this character in a playthrough of Carrion Crown, there are fewer players than normal thus the gestalt.

I'm going Oracle of Time, with the Haunted Curse (thematic and cool spells) and Gunslinger (Mysterious Stranger for Charisma Synergy).

I'm not familiar with gunslinger builds at all really, and want to make sure that I can function well with my pistol.

25 point buy. Nothing raised above 18 , and nothing below 8 prior to racial mods. I'm not really a min/maxer, and I want to have decent intelligence for the bonus skill points.

Only Core races are available. I am primarily looking at Human, the bonus feat and skill point being very useful, and taking the Oracle favored class bonus (extra spell). But this is open to suggestion.

Your input and advice is appreciated!

The optimal build would probably be:

Oracle 20 / Gunslinger 1 (mysterious stranger), Paladin 19 (Oath of Vengeance).

Mysterious stranger is pretty front loaded and doesn't provide much after the first level, while paladin, and specifically oath of vengeance works very well with well, pretty much anyone who is going to be attacking. And you have charisma synergy to spare.

But that's just an option, Oracle 20 / Gunslinger (mysterious stranger) 20 is certainly acceptable, you'll still have good hit dice, good base attack bonus, all good saves, and full casting. You'll be much more casting focused in this build, your gun basically just being something you do when you don't need to cast spells though.

For the oracle side you could consider going dual cursed. You can burn a trait to gain UMD as a class skill (you already have perception), ill omen's a really good spell to have access to, and the misfortune revelation is pretty amazing. (Remember, despite its name you can use it if you or your allies make bad rolls as well.)

For time revelations I'd probably look at time flicker, temporal celerity, time hop, time sight and erase from time. (Knowledges of ages if you want to be a know it all.) Stay away from aging touch and momentary glimpse (ick!).

Either way I'd probably go with a human:
Str 10, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 12, Wis 8, Cha 16 (+2 racial), (You could even switch wis and str, though with medium or heavy armor I'd be hesitant to do so.)

Point blank shot, precise shot (Alternatively, fey foundling might be a good feat to consider, especially if you go the paladin route.)

Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Perception, Sense Motive, and Use Magic Device as your 6 skills. (I'm assuming you want to be the face. If you want to be more the knowledge person you could drop the social skills for knowledge (planes and religion), and spellcraft.)

Sounds cool. Though I might see if you can the Sacred Gun paladin stacks with Oath of Vengeance. It would allow your gun to be more holy and all.

Liberty's Edge

Holy gun is a trap. It gives up smite evil. Stay far, far, away from that. A normal paladin is perfectly capable of having a "holy" gun. (Ie. smite evil works on it, and they can choose make it holy with their 5th level power, etc.)

Thanks a ton Shadowcat! This is great help.
