Shields' Upgrades? Armour upgrades? Weapon Acc? Good ideas?

Howdy.

Not sure if general discussion-on the topic of these, or rules question since I"m also asking about the interactions.. Went with discussion because I'm also looking for conversation about them and interesting ideas.

I noticed while reading up on shields they have upgrade slots.. Do they just use Armour Upgrades? Or is there a section specific for shields that i missed somewhere? I know you can use weapon fusions in some of them that have explictiy weapons. but none really go into detail on 'upgrades' so I'm assuming its amrour upgrades as I don't know of another upgrade.

In armour's case.. I assume its "any" type only? Since they aren't light, heavy or powered armour-they're shields. So only "any" would apply.

Also for Weapn Accessories.. They accept weapon fuses and it talks about them counting as Melee Weapons. So can you put weapon accessories on a shield? THe ones that list "melee weapon" and "any" (but not powered etc).

And for shield users... Any awesome uses or combos for that?
Makes me think of World Trigger. They had cool Shield Melee energy weapon that they used neat slots for. Like super jumps or rocket attacks


I'm going to put my pet carrier armor upgrade in my shield.

I don't know about the "shield as weapons" aspect. They're either unarmed attacks or advanced melee weapons, depending.

Although I see no issue with accessories. As melee weapons all shields can take are grips, inertial dampeners or the collapsible thing. Seems quite fine.

They can choose from a very limited list of armor upgrades. I don't think the list made it into Archives of Nethys, but it is in the Shield section of Character Operations Manual.


Yeah. someone else pointed it out and sent it on reddit. I'll have to go crack my PDF open later and make sure but it looks like some useful ones.

though sadly I can't Raygust it up with jump dets on a shield for using for me. Or handing to an ally, or to use to make a flying shield atttack.

The grips sound interesting, some of them would be great for sneaking in a shield...

Quick Sheath is also fun for a small arm attached to the shield so you can drop your long arm and switch to shield + close range weapon combat.

I wonder if that armour upgrade injection weapon, Forget its name, it has operative though which is why I like it. I wonder if thats on the list.

I'd love to have a shield with a big injection blade on it. Pair with a small arm and be ready for a lot.
