Oversized Weapons in PFS Play

I am considering making a new PFS character that is a Titan Mauler Barbarian. Before I do this though, I am curious on the PFS stance towards the purchase of oversized weaponry. Since the Titan Mauler sacrifices some of his other barbarian abilities for the ability to effectively wield oversized weapons I wouldn't want to do so if I am limited to only using weapons from slain enemies instead of having my own weapon so I know I will have it available.

It doesn't really become a concern until 4th level at the earliest but I'd not want to invest that time into a character that might find himself unable to fully utilize his abilities down the road.

Titan Maulers gain no special ability that allows them to use weapons that you could not already use as any other kind of character, you just have a smaller penalty when wielding the weapons normal PCs can already use.

Medium Titan Maulers are restricted to the following

1. Medium Two Handed weapons (either two handed or 1 handed with a -2 to hi)

2. Large One handed weapons (at a -2 penalty which is reduced by the Massive weapons class feature)

3. Huge Light weapons (at a -4 which is also reduced by the Massive weapons class feature) (However there is no way to purchase a huge weapon)

4. You cannot Wield a Large Two handed weapon (none of the titan maulers abilities bypass this limitation)

There are no rules in the CRB or any other legal for use book that provides a cost for weapons larger than large sized there are costs for huge armor that some people extrapolate to include huge weapons however by RAW there is no way to actually purchase a Huge weapon.

You can purchase Large weapons in PFS, if that's what you were wondering. You can't normally purchase Huge ones (not that you'd want to) and I'm not sure there are any on chronicles.

Thanks for this clarification. You are absolutely right that the rules state it simply reduces the penalty and thus they likely can not run around with a large-sized two handed weapon. I was mislead by some of the guides I had seen about building a Titan Mauler which were obviously intended for home games by DMs who had interpreted this differently.

The best you can manage is a large bastard sword.

Their are a couple of large weapons as part of the booty on Chronicle sheets :)

The good news is that any pathfinder can walk into the lodge and order up a large bastard sword +1 , in your choice of steel, cold iron, adamantite, alchemical silver, mithral, or some of the even weirder stuff. You can get +2 and higher versions when you level up and acquire enough fame for it without having to pray that you pry the large bastard sword from the cold dead fingers of your enemies.

A - "I this it would be awesome to get a large Longsword, I would be doing the so much damage with it!"

B - "...why don't you get a Greatsword? It will do the same thing."

A - "But...a Large Longsword sounds more intimidating that an a simple Greatsword!"

B - "But then again, it will give you a -2 penalty because it is an different sized weapon"

A - "...so you are saying a Large Longsword does 2d6, a Greatsword does 2d6, but the Large Longsword give me a -2 to attack?"

B - "Pretty much"

A - "boo at logic"

Yes, the titan mauler seems like it would be a great archetype where you eventually wield huge weapons!

Unfortunately the writer forgot to allow it to actually wield large weapons
