Bodyguard manipulation

Advice

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Body guard alone is a so-so feat, 2 to AC won't do much most of the times.
However , it can be boosted :
1) a mount having in harms way while you ride check the attack
2) a cavalier of the sword, is buffing a big plus as levels go up- adding 3-5 can make the distance...
Any other manipulation ?b

If you're a Halfling, the Helpful trait boosts it by another +2. I swear there's yet another trait which gives you another +1, and these appear to be untyped bonuses and theoretically stack (unless there's some special rule about traits not stacking?). EDIT: I'm thinking of Fools for Friends, but it's a campaign trait, for what it's worth.

Don't be fooled by Supportive; it only gives you a +1 bonus on the attempt to aid another, not the actual result. How hard is it to hit AC 10?

EDIT: Apparently there's another version of Helpful for non-Halflings, but it's only a +1 increase, and won't stack with the other Helpful by RAW.

EDIT EDIT: Oh, and I found Kin Guardian, but it only works on family. If you raise your mount yourself, does it count as family, I wonder?

hafling trait makes it 4.
benevolent armor property adds armors enhancement bonus.
Honor guard cavalier can add 1 more

i have a pfs cavalier who aids for 9 ac, and his mount also has most of the stuff. he adds another 7 or 8.

so you can give like 16 ac easily. more if you REALLY want to

Order of the dragon can increase it as well.

order of the dragon doesnt stack with helpful, and doesnt become better than it until 14th. taking the trait (even if you have to take adopted to get the trait helpful) is a way better idea than taking the order of the dragon

Benevolent armor can add another +5.

See my troll myrmidons for how it can be used to great effect.

Well... Adding too much will force the Dm to kill you :)

A Widened Emergency Force Shield can pretty much stop all damage.

If you use bodyguard, you are in melle ...

If I am protection all, than I need some aid myself...
Bodyguard is best if :
1) you got a mount that can aid you when you are attacked
2) you got super mega AC
3) you are a barbarian with dr .
