So with the current ruling on Spell-Like Abilities allowing Crafter feats to be taken in the FAQ
Then an Assimar Alchemist can take all the crafting feats they want, as could other non-casters, all because they have a spell-like ability.
I suppose that is one way to get around the ruling that Alchemists aren't spellcasters to take crafting feats.
The same goes for Tieflings... what other races have innate spell-like abilities that have a caster level based on HD?

Unless there is something trumping the following that I'm not aware of, you can't just up the DC to make potions, spell-trigger (wands and staves) and spell-completion items (scrolls).
From the 2nd paragraph of the Magic Item Creation Chapter(emphasis mine)
The DC to create a magic item increases by +5 for each prerequisite the caster does not meet. The only exception to this is the requisite item creation feat, which is mandatory. In addition, you cannot create potions, spell-trigger, or spell-completion magic items without meeting their spell prerequisites.

An Alchemist should be able to build a dang Homunculus, without having racial Spell-like abilities.
It's a Homunculus!
They go together like Dwarves and Beards.
If anything, they should have a Discovery to do it.

Ah, I have been fighting for that ever since the Alchemist came out.
When I saw a certain Adventure Path with a certain NPC, I thought all was saved.
Apparently, that was just a rule-breaker.
Hell, he can't even make an Alchemical Golem.
Well, I recall James Jacobs saying that he thought Alchemists should be able to make golems and such, and implied it would probably happen before too long.
