Post your pics of paint jobs of your Reaper bones.

Here's my first two (sorry for the low quality images, I have the cheapest phone in existance).

Nice! So, did you prime first or just paint right on the (washed) mini? Do you use the Reaper paints?

Just started painting right out of the box. I'm just using hobby paint (most are Delta Ceramcoat acrylic paint). I did a "dip" (actually brushed it on) using some MinWax.

The Exchange

Nice job. Did you pre-clean the minis or anything?
EDIT: nevermind I see, right out of the box...cool.

Sovereign Court

Washing them with soapy water before painting is a good idea.

Nice, mine are doing fine for the most part right out of box as well. Of of the hobby paint is old, so some issue with that otherwise they paint wonderfully!

IIRC, Reaper has said that the bones don't use a mold release agent the way metal ones do, but some people still find washing them allows the paint to coat it more evenly.

Oddly, it's usually plastics I find I need to wash beforehand, not metals. But whatevs, it's all magic. ;) I generally have better results painting after washing, but if it works out of the box, that's just great. I'll probably still wash at least the bigger/nicer ones just in case.

As for paint sticking to it, I have seen a report... I think on Youtube... that shows that Reaper paints themselves tend to have best coverage on Bones.

Those are some excellent results for 'just' hobby paint and MinWax!!

I plan to do up most of the 'grunt' minis (Orcs, Goblins, Skeletons etc) in exactly this manner. The PCs and special/big monsters I plan on a more traditional method (paint, shade, highlight, screw up, strip, repeat).

Thanks for the compliments. I can't wait to see some of other people's work.

Has anyone done any bones painting that they would like to post?

Starfinder Superscriber

Nothing fully finished yet, but as soon as I do I'll post my gobos!

I'm ashamed because I haven't even started yet, but consider this thread dotted.

Sczarni

Once i make a photobuck account and learn how to link, i will show the reaper bones griffon/griffin i painted.

Got my bones two days ago, and speed painted first of them yesterday! Of course I started with a Pathfinder goblin ('cause it's just right thing to do!)

It was dark outside, so the picture loses some colours...

Salama, that is a great paint job.

Your 'quick paint' is better than most of my 'painstakingly slow' paint jobs.

You know, some things just come out better with a speed paint than a painstakingly slow one. Sheer luck has something to do with it too. For example I think I couldn't paint that torch any better if I used hours of work in it, but now it just happened to come out ok with just few minutes of painting (it doesn't show up very well in the photo, but it has best shadings I've managed to do...). I accidentally learned how to use glazes when painting this little freak =). I think I'll speed paint my way through hordes of Bones and see what I can learn during the process, accidentally or by purpose! =)

Here's the first thing I painted out of my Bones, the Pathfinder Red Dragon.

That was a work-in-progress pic, before the base was finished or the last layer of ink/sealant.

I've got several more painted now, but I don't have pics yet.

Sweet! Love it that you went basically with the same colours that are in Core Rulebook cover. I pledged only for two extras, and Pathfinder Dragon was one of them. Did you have trouble with the sponginess of some parts during painting?

The tip of the tail and the wings are very soft, but they didn't give much trouble. While there was a lot of flex, it took drybrushing and washes well.
