I recently bought a chessex MondoMat and have no way of easily transporting it other than just sticking 3 rubber bands on it. I am looking for a tube container that can be made out of plastic or cardboard that has end caps or a sealed end that i can carry it in. I do not want to pay $30 or more for a simple piece of plastic or cardboard. The dimensions of the tube must be around 3" inside diameter and 55" long. Thanks!

I bought a map of shipwrecks in the DelMarVa area and it came in a nice clear plastic tube with red endcaps. I think I paid $10-20 for the poster and I use the tube for my mats. It is just over 3' long.
I got it at the Assategue Island nature center, not sure if you are close or whatever but I would check out nature centers in your area and sciency stores that may sell poster maps in some type of tube. probably better and cheaper than trying to just buy a tube.
Link to the poster I got.

It is remarkably easy to make a sturdy tube out of just about any flat, flexible material. You can make it any size you want and cap the ends with plastic lids from small cans of nuts. You probably have what you need lying around your house already.
I keep my roll up mats in a shipping tube that was used to ship me something. I lost the plastic end caps years ago, so I just used packing tape and a cut down plastic lid from something to create a flip top on each side which I secure with a rubber band. Has worked for several years so far. I have to periodically replace the rubber band when it breaks. No biggie.
