Need an enemy for a thick jungle setting

Advice

The group must travel through a thick jungle for a short distance (about 200 yards) and I need a foe that can strike at them and easily retreat back into the thicker brush. It is a group of 5 and they are all at level 4-5.

Not a Druid and not incorporeal.

Thanks!

Very Young Green dragon CR6 favored terrain is forests and such.
150ft fly speed unimpeded by forest terrain.
Woodland stride allows it to move about the forest like the trees were not even there. Breath weapon comboed with retooled feats to nab flyby attack in place of cleave and you are in buisness as a jungle harrassment tool. Blindsense let it pinpoint the party well enough to breath weapon them.

Might even add in another one, depending on how proficent the party is at murdering things. 2 of em would mean more breath weapon-y goodness. along with the party being less likely to insta gib it with held actions.

Undead Halflings
Or Velociraptors

Have you considered the mighty Boggard?

Rangers should work.

My first thought was Serpentfolk.

Thanks for the ideas. A friend of mine has suggested Dire Apes for the climb ability as a way of escape.

I may throw in some fog just to mess up the PC's Infravision and make it even easier for an ambush.

Cheers, and good hunting.
