So, my wife and I are playing in a Way of the Wicked game, and she has never played Pathfinder before. I'm not totally sure what to have her play, since she loves melee characters. I know she likes to be able to do a good variety in combat, so I'm looking to produce some options for her, so I can really see what she likes and get her hooked into Pathfinder.
So far, the only classes I've run by her are fighter and inquisitor. She likes how inquisitor gets some spells and abilities that are more than just mundane things with a weapon. What other suggestions might people bring up for her?
The other question I have, is what would people suggest for me? We're both playing together, the other members of the group are waiting to see what my wife and I are playing, and I'm just stumped on what to play, so I'd like some suggestions for me, as well, that would fit well with her character.
Two traits, and the GM says there are no campaign traits in this one. 20 point buy, each increase costs 1 until 15, and 2 fr 16-18. And you can increase a stat to 20, if your race has a negative. No 3pp.

I'd say Freebooter ranger for your wife.
Ranger will let her get into melee and be effective, while her favored enemy bonus will be useful regardless of what the GM throws at you and will buff the entire party. Ranger has good skills too.
I also like rangers for new players because the combat style focuses and helps plan your choices. It's easy for a new player to fall into a trap feat with a fighter or a bad rage power on a barbarian because of a smorgasbord of options.

Antipaladin's a solid choice for melee as well, since WotW is an Evil game. Especially given the description provided. It splits the difference between Fighter and Inquisitor very well.
As for you...almost anything seems possible, though I'm a big fan of Evil Bards, personally, if only because they make great mastermind types.

That's really up to you and what you think you would like. Really any class would gain benefits from being teamed with a Freebooter or Inquisitor. Inquisitor has all the teamwork feats and Freebooter has the group favored enemy buff and the improved flanking bond. If I was making a partner for the ranger, I go with a ninja or rogue to capitalize on the flanking bonuses, and if I were making a partner for the inquisitor I'd make a cavalier to capitalize on the teamwork feats.
Druid and Cleric respectively would also be good choices as partners, but I personally prefer playing martial characters, even though they are less powerful over time.

Deadmanwalking, I like that you mention antipaladin, as it is a good solid choice. I just want to make sure she doesn't get overwhelmed, and I've never played one or a paladin, so I can't really advise. She's a smart one, but gets frustrated sometimes.
I, myself, just really dislike playing a bard. Don't know what it is, but I've never enjoyed playing one. Any other suggestions? I'm wanting something with good synergy with whatever my wife plays.
Imbicatus, I will definitely keep this in mind and pass the ideas on to her and see what comes of it.

combine this and anti paladin and you will have such an incredible amazing team. You can decrease fear-save-DC's by 8 or ten pretty fast and just do whatever you want to do with your enemies (like just kill them with phantasmal killer).

I need to say that a Evil game is absolutely the wrong First Game for a newb. This could be a big mistake.
That warning having been given, play a healer/support PC that specializes in keeping her PC alive. Oracles work, so might a Witch.
Fetchlings and ifrits both work for anti-paladins, as do Humans, of course. Vishkanya is the exotic choice.

She's not a newbie to games overall. She's just a newbie to pathfinder in an actual game. Considering that she's played several systems I consider much harder and had no issues, I don't see her having issues, DrDeth, but I do appreciate the warning.
We won't have trouble keeping her alive. I definitely think helping her would be a good part of the character, but I'm not sure whether I'm be healer would really help the party at all, since there's a 4th who is undecided, and is letting me make my choice before then.
So, doubtlessly, we'll have a healer sort.

Yeah, I definitely agree there, on the support aspect. Apparently, the group layout is now antipaladin, a gnoll dread, and the other guy and myself are still undecided.
I'd enjoy being something that has support aspect but that could also do a good bit of damage. No idea what, though. No bard, though. Hate bards with a burning passion, for some reason.

A pity, because as a half-orc arcane duelist with a falchion, you could be a superb buffer and a good meleer. Take performance: oratory for your performances - your inspire courage then would be deep mutterings in a strange and mystic language that bolster your companions - no need for a fancy pants, harp playing softie. No instruments, no singing...
Eventually your studies lead you to even older mysteries and you discover the secrets of eldritch heritage: orc bloodline (and kill a sorceror who owns a robe of arcane heritage...)
