Looking for some unusual undead

Advice

My group has unleashed a torrent of undead upon Absalom (long story ^^) and now I want to have a "Zombie" invasion.

However, the group has explored the Cairn Lands and also visited Geb once and thus have seen their share of undead.
Thus I wanna give them something unusual to make it interesting.

One thing I found is the Apparition (3PP) that uses Mind Tricks to make things think they are strangulated.
But apart from that I have not found cool/unusual undead monsters I like yet.
Even homebrew stuff is okay. Don't be shy. CR range should be 6 to 10.

Wights with class levels.

I rather like Wights. They're like the hobgoblins of the undead.

Oh. With unusual class it could be interesting.

Like Alchemist Wight with Vestigal hands or a Tumor Familiar :3

Mummy monks are always fun.

Or Baykok [B3]

Oh? Love the Baykok (I don't have the Bestiary 3 as book so I am not as familiar with the monsters from there)

There is an undead killing Ranger among the group who will love taking the undead hunter on in a 1:1.

Have you looked through the SRD at all of the variant forms of undead such as

Fast, plague, exploding, etc zombies.

Some of the variant undead are pretty fun. Or do you have The Tomb of Horrors Complete. If you have been using all Paizo stuff up to this point you could pull something different from this book.

My favorites are the various "beheaded" and the "cadaver lord" although they are generally CR 3-5. Draugr are cool if near the water. The Pale Stranger is CR 10 but if you want a skeleton with pistols it is awesome.

If you want an eccentric BBEG that sounds like a good way to stand out.

But what I like about Wights is how good they are at attrition with negative level slams and quick rising spawn.

You can have scenarios in which civilians are around, and a small mob of lesser wights will go for those while the scary wights engage the PCs. Wights are super sneaky so you never know when one is about to drop in on you.

As all undead, Wights use Cha for Con, so an Oracle or Sorc would be more hardy than usual.

Fun mysteries could be Ancestor (especially with Spirit of the Warrior, though that's a lvl 11 ability) or Bones. I think Ancestor is more badass though (and as a DM you could make Blood of Heroes a profane bonus rather than morale. I think it'd make enough sense.)

As for undead that are tough enough for that range without class levels, I'm partial to the Mohrg. Fairly terrifying monsters that could easily be mistaken for skeletons.

Liberty's Edge

I'd check here.

Just giving that a quick once-over: Beheaded, Berbalang, Bodak, Advanced Crypt Things, Draugr with class levels, Dullahan, Duppy, Great Ghuls, Guecubu, Mananggal, Mohrg, Revenants, Greater Shadows (possibly with some normal Shadow minions), Spectres, and some varieties of skeleton, vampire, and zombie.

@Mike
I already used variants on Skeletons and Zombies on them ^^

Draugr would be perfect (as the surge starts at the harbor)
And Pale Stranger is awesome too (just not for this group but the second group)

@Alchemy
I thought about Wicked Witch Wights (say that quickly 3 times). With some thematically fitting Hexes (Evil Eye and such).

@Deadmanwalking
Sadly that site is blocked at work and my PC at home self destructed. ^^

But I think I got what I need:
Plague Zombies, Black Skeletons, Draugr for the mobs.
Drauger Captain & Wights (both types with class levels) as the stronger inbetween monsters.

Pale Stranger and Baykok as Big Bosses.

I'm a personal fan of the Dybbuk. It's a bodiless undead that other bodies for it's own. Pretty high CR, though.

Yeah CR15 is too high. ^^
