Was thinking a bit about making a general and was wondering which classes or prestige classes would best suit this?
I've stumbled over the "Battle Herald" prestige class but I don't know if it's society leagal.(would also be nice to hear some suggested alternatives)
Can a character have an archtype in one class and an archtype in another as well as a prestige class?
How would you place the stats on a Great General?(was thinking about Strategist archtype, or banner bearer)
The character being based on the far east and equipted with medium or heavy armor and a Naginata.

I'd probably advise the Cavalier - many of their Orders have powers that help the other PCs, and (contrary to some opinions) their butts are not permanently fused to a saddle. No other class has the option of 'granting' Teamwork feats.
My second option would be an Oracle of Battle; my third a cleric with the War and Glory domains; I particularly recommend the APG spell that provides a divine alternative to haste: blessings of... oh, something...

Depends on what you want out of your general. Bards give buffs all around, arcane casters can control time/space in battle, cavaliers can throw out teamwork feats, Barbarians are always great at fighting and good at not falling down if you build them right, and if you use 3.5 material White Raven Warblades do the job pretty well.

Expert and maybe aristocrat. Seriously.
If your talking about a battlefield leadership, such as a clan leader who leads by his own exploits, that's another story. However, there is an old military adage that amateurs study battles, professionals study logistics.
An expert allows designation of any 10 skills as class skills, so allows custom skill packages. Generalship skills might include many of the social skills (diplomacy, Sense Motive, Bluff, Intimidate), appropriate Profession skills, Knowledge skills (architecture/engineering, history, local, geography, nobility/royalty), etc.
Generalship is much more about being the head of an organization than being its body.
