Well...the spell channel you get at 4 can be used for pretty fun stuff. Remember that it changes the target of the spell to what you hit and you can put ANY spell into your weapon. AMF...bamf, no save anti magic on the caster = one dead caster. Spell channel giant form 2 into your sap and whack the party fighter to get that spell on him/her. A sleet storm that JUST gets the guy you hit...pretty sweet. Is it worth losing 4 CL...probably not. But it does bring about a lot of hilarity. The build would be fi 1/wiz 6/spellsword 5/EK 8.

Spellsword was used for 1 level dips, because it cost too many caster levels. You want Abjurant Champion, from Complete Champion.
Abjurant Champion is from Complete Mage. I think its author thought Mage Armor was Abjuration when theu wrote it, not sure how good it is on its own. Its only 5 levels, but you don't have to multiclass to get into it(though you will if you want in earlier than 11th level).
Eldritch Knight doesn't have much going for it. Its got 9/10 casting and requires a dip into another class for the martial proficiency. Its void of class features sans a caps stone. Its okay if you want a caster with full bab I guess?
Spell Sword is a 5/10 one, but he can wear armor and cast, which is something the eldritch knight would love to have on its own. Seems to be much more about melee first then casting to me, which a bit of cool spells on the side. Again, no idea how good it is because I've never seen it.
Personally, I wouldn't go for the spellsword if you have a focus on casting. I don't like either of the options. I prefer the abjurant champion(with a dip into spell sword and mithral armor.)
