Will save on invisibility?

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

I just wanted top clear this up:

If two foes are facing off, one is a wizard casting invisibility, the other foe DOES NOT get a will save to disbelieve the spell, correct?

Correct

Sczarni

The section that says, "Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)" can be confusing. If the wizard in your example cast Invisibility on his opponent, then the opponent would get a Will save to not go invisible. If the Wizard casts the spell on himself, his opponent gets no save.

The Exchange

The option of the Will save is merely presented for situations where a person the wizard is attempting to make invisible, for whatever reason, does not wish to submit to the spell. For instance, a creature that doesn't know whether the wizard is an ally or not, and does not make a Spellcraft check adequate to identify the spell as it is being cast, might elect to make a save.

Yes, the saves in the upper part of the stat block on a spells description refers to the save made on whomever the spell is cast on. There is no save on the spell to "disbelieve" someone is invisible.

We had a situation once when we had to convince a judge that the villain had died to get his property passed to his good son. When he showed up, the wizard casted Invisibility and Silence on him against his will.
