Ogre PC Stats

Rules Questions

Hi all! I'm making an ogre oracle (yes, I know how that sounds), but I don't know an ogre's ability score modifiers and any other stats. If you could post them, that'd be great. Also, if there is a page that describes ogres as a PC race, please link it. Thanks!

Check the PRD. The Advanced Race Guide has one version, and another version can be worked out from comparing the Bestiary entry with the "Monsters as PCs" rules.

Well, if you're not dead set on an actual ogre, there's a half ogre race here: Half-Ogre Race.

But, if you are deadset on ogres, you could either build your own using Advanced Race Guide or use the following(good luck with your GM):

Large humanoid(giant)
Darkvision 60ft.
Low-Light Vision
+10 Str
-2 Dex
+4 Con
-4 Int
-2 Cha

Ogres have no supernatural or spell-like abilities.

These stats were made by taking the listed stat value of the ogre monster(from pfsrd) and then subtracting either 10 or 11 from that score(depending on whether the score was an even number or an odd number). This was how these were done previously in 3.5ed, but I'm not quite sure if the system actually exists in pathfinder. Needless to say, it's a powerful race so GMs might take issue with it.

The Exchange

GMs should always be wary of Strength bonuses beyond +2. Such a race, in combination with any of the classes that emphasize Strength (barbarian being the most extreme example, but hardly the only one) can make a hash of the EL/CR system fairly readily. I've seen it in action - it wasn't pretty. The GM had to resort to foes behind fortifications, or flying foes, or foes throwing concealment/entangling effects in practically every fight to avoid having the Str-30 fighter simply yank all the opposition in half.

Side note: I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure ogres do have one extraordinary ability; darkvision.

You are indeed correct, darkvision 60ft. and low-light vision.

Thanks, I asked my GM and he's letting me use ogre as long as I'm not full melee. So I'm going fkatanna wielding, flame oracle. Whenever he'll cast fireball he'll yell, "thog like fire!"

Is this a Golarion Ogre?

Lets see, to build an Ogre race:

Name: Ogre
Type: Humanoid(Giant)
Size: Large 7RP (+2 Str, -2 Dex)
Stats: Paragon 1RP (+4 Con, -2 Int/Wis/Cha)
Racial Traits:
> Ability <
- Advanced Constitution 4RP: (+2 Con)
- Advanced Strength 4RP: (+2 Str)
- Net Stats: +4 Str, -2 Dex, +6 Con, -2 Int/Wis/Cha
> Defense <
- Natural Armor 2RP: +1 Natural Armor bonus
- Advanced - Improved Natural Armor 1RP: +1 Natural Armor bonus (net +2)
> Offensive <
- Advanced - Natural Attack(Slam) 1RP
- Monsterous - Rock Throwing 3RP (+1 Attack, 2d6 + 1.5x Str damage, range 120', 5 inc)
> Senses <
- Carrion Sense 1RP: Scent for corpses or creatures <25% HP
- Low-light vision 1RP
- Darkvision 60' 2RP
> Weaknesses <
- Light Blindness -2RP

Total: 24 RP

Ogre/Orc Halfbreed
Name: Orog
Type: Humanoid(Orc, Giant)
Size: Medium
Speed: Slow -1RP (20', never slowed by encumbrance or armor) {stumpy, stocky legs}
Stats: Paragon 1RP (+4 Str, -2 Int/Wis/Cha)
Racial Traits:
> Ability <
- Advanced Constitutionx2 9RP: +4 Con
- Advanced Strengthx2 9RP: +4 Str
- Net stats: +8 Str, +4 Con, -2 Int/Wis/Cha
> Offensive <
- Orc Ferocity 1RP
- Monsterous - Strong Grasp 3RP (Custom): Can wield weapons one size larger for no size difference penalty and no handedness increase and can wield a same-sized two-handed weapon in only one hand. Still only has 5' natural reach.
> Senses <
- Darkvision 120' 3RP
> Weaknesses <
- Greater Light Blindness -3RP (custom): Permanently blind in bright light. Blind for 1 round and dazzled in subsequent rounds in normal light.

Total: 22 RP

Fluff: Combining the strength of an Orc, the toughness of an Ogre, and the stupidity of both, an Orog is a beast on two legs. Whereas the Human heritage of a Half-Orc makes for a keen tactician or shaman of the tribe, the Ogre heritage of the Orog makes them lynchpin front-line shock-troops of an Orc horde. Often wielding too-big weaponry with their disproportionately large and muscular arms, they will wade into the frey with either a greataxe in a single huge fist or a giant club that would fit the hand of their ogre parent. Their short, stocky, bowed legs tend to struggle under their massive bulk, but being used to that bulk means they can be decked in heavy armor and weapons and are sometimes used to transport supplies in bulk as a beast of burden. Their combined heritage also makes their eyes particularly sensitive to light and they can't even see in dim light any better than a Human, though their darkvision is even better than normal Orcs or Ogres.

There is already a RAW Half-Ogre template.

Find it here.

You can extrapolate the rules for a monster's racial adjustments from the bestiary. Ogres as monster PC's would have the following:

* +10 str, -2 dex, +4 con, -4 int, -4 cha
* large size
* 40 ft movement speed
* Darkvision 60 ft
* 4 racial hit dice as a humanoid (d8, 3/4 attack, strong fortitude save, 2+ int skill points)

Is this an evil campaign?

Ogres are not fat silly clowns.

Ogres are horrible inbred rapist, entertained only by the most despicable of acts, such as torture and mutilation.

They are like Deliverance hillbillies, but bigger, nastier, and stupider.

All Ogrekin(half Ogres) are borne of rape. Those are only from the victims who survive the encounter.

Of course, living through it, or not, will not stop the foul creature from raping you. Dead, or alive, they care not.

Some Ogres tribes are so horribly inbred, that they are barely beasts, incapable of speech, or organized thought of any kind.

These are not silly clowns.

These are the slobbering beasts of your nightmares.

My friend played a half-ogre ranger...but his mother was the ogre.

His father is known in my GMs world as none other than "Papa".

Papa hunts kraken on lakes of fire at night...to relax.
Papa has a dog...that rapes dire tigers...and eats only freshly ground griffon.
Who takes on ancient wyrms in nothing but his skivvies off a drunken bet and wins? Papa does

Grand Lodge

Yeah.

Ogres are Clowns in the same way John Wayne Gacy was a Clown.
