Magic and armor.

Advice

So, Wizards and Sorcerers, and I assume other magic users generally don't like armor. It's understandable, as it works at balancing them out, and logically it makes sense as well.

But c'mon, there's gotta be a way, right? I ask because I want to make a Dr. Doom-esque character, and as you all know, good ol' Victor does enjoy his armor. And a little known fact, in the Marvel Universe, he's also a rather accomplished magic user and master of the occult. And yeah, I could just make a charismatic sort of Martial class, or make a Paladin or something, but I really like the idea of this heavily armored egotist blasting people with lightning spells and dazzling villages with various magic techniques, etc.

Anyone have any ideas?

Flavor the suit as Bracers of Armor that cover the body with steel once they are donned?

Huh. That could take a bit of talking with a DM, but maybe it could work.

arcane armor training/ mastery.

or you can use the still spell feat for all your spells.

oh. that or you could play an Oracle (cha class, can wear armor)

Wow. The Still Spell feat makes things pretty easy for an armor wearer.

Or play a divine caster like an oracle with the correct mystery.

Hellknight signifier takes the arcane armor training and makes it even nicer. You can also make items out of mithral or other materials to help reduce the arcane spell casting failure, in the case of a light shield to 0. There is also the Ceremonial Gown and Haramaki which are both light armors with 0 arcane spell casting failure to begin with. Nothing keeps you from putting spikes on them or a shield for extra coolness.

Bard, summoner, and bard cast arcane spells in light armor without penalty. A medium armor with mithral becomes light for this purpose. Magus slowly gains the ability to cast in heavier armor, but usually him using finesse builds means he hits the max dex pretty quickly. Divine casters don't suffer any penalty at all, and alchemist has a "I'm not a spellcaster" gig going on so he can use his abilities in anything.

Play a Magus. At higher levels they can cast in heavy armor. Doom's skill at magic while decent is not anywhere near a full mage. When he teamed up with DR. Strange he used the computers in his armor to analyze the other spell casters. You will not get to use heavy armor until 13th level but DR. Doom is a world class villain. Before he got his armor he was not powerful.

The other way to do it is with a Synthesist Summoner. Your Eidolon is your armor.
