can mending repair a burned out torch?

Pretty much as the title asks. If a torch is used up due to fire damage, would the mending spell be capable of renewing it?

It doesn't seem far fetched ... does it?

I don't think so since "all the pieces of the object must be present for this spell to work".
A used torch has burnt through all of its pitch. The mending spell only repairs damaged items and doesn't replace fuels.
Likewise the spell wouldn't refill an empty lantern with oil.

Yeah, I think Jeven has the right of it. Also, this is pretty darn inefficient - using a cantrip (market value 5 gp per casting) to repair a 1 cp item, whose function can be mostly eclipsed by yet another cantrip (light.)

mending only repairs physical damage, not chemical change.

if you accidentally broke your torch using it as a modified club? sure. used it up and its a combination of wood, charcoal, and various gasses? no.

and if it is an armor where you put your mending?

Example: my ranger get his armor sundered... can i ask for a mending to restore the armor without have to go to the armory?

Sure. The caster has to have a sufficient caster level (one object of up to 1 lb./level) and every 10 minutes it restores 1d4 hit points to the object.

If it's magic armor that's been destroyed, mending will repair the armor but not restore any magical abilities.

That's what the spell is for, though note you need Make Whole if it's magic armour that was totally destroyed (instead of just broken).

Mending also has a 10 minute casting time, so very inefficient.

No, because Wizards are smart. They first shrink items, then mend them.

And maybe unshrink them too, after you paid extra.
