Grizelda Blau |

Grizelda enters the Happy Cow in a cautious fashion. The "Owl Lady" of Daggermark was not often seen in the tavern, but she was not completely unknown to the establishment. She had from time to time consulted with Tomid about difficult to procure substances and had paid him well with scandalous information more than once. Usually about her own older sisters...
She is a plump woman of average height, wearing blue and grey scholar's robes. Her face is round and pale like the full moon with large grey-blue eyes. She wears reading glasses on a chain around her neck and sometimes forgets to take them off, as she has done today. The lenses magnify her eyes making her look comically similar to the small grey owl perched on her shoulder. Her mouse-brown locks are swept up into a messy low bun and pinned into place with grey owl feathers. She has the unfortunate feature of always appearing like she is frowning, even when her expression is relaxed. She has a very bird-like manner, peering at everything and blinking excessively. She holds her arms at her sides with her fingers extented as she approaches the bar, almost as if she intented to take flight if need be.
She takes a seat at the bar and quietly observes the scene for several minutes.
Hello folks, I just wanted to check-in. Still putting the final touches on Grizelda here. She's a bit eccentric, to say the least. She's going to display quite a few quirks, not the least of which is a complete lack of tact. She may be abrasive, but it's not out of malice. She's the local Librarian (secretly a Conjurer!) and has a large family here in Daggermark. Her original background is in the profile but I may tweak it a bit more. I think Tomid is probably the best bet for background association since her family runs an Inn. Looking forward to playing with this group! You're all impressive roleplayers. Thanks so much for the invite, Andy!<3

Zinny Holbern |

Welcome aboard! I like librarians. :)
Zinny is in 'her' corner, sipping an ale. She gives Miz Blau a shy nod-- she hasn't had much truck with the librarian of Daggermark; Zinny is barely literate, and only that cuz Momma has insisted she be able to read simple lists of chores.
Owl's awful cute, tho.

Tomid |

Tomid pauses his polishing of the glassware as the librarian enters his domain. Grizy! Its been too long. What brings you in? He hurries over to his customer, giving her his ear, partly out of the hope to hear some new juicy bit of gossip, and partly out of fear she is going to announce something to the bar that half his regulars will take offense at, costing him business.

Hugo Smith |

Your introduction hints at greater things to come Grizelda, cant wait to see more. Welcome aboard.
Also, DM, just checking to be sure ive got everything right on the gold front.
145 gold from loot
50 gold of "favours"
Spent all the favour gold on crafting materials, and another 50 of the loot to make the breastplate.
Im gonna guess giving a pint or three to everyone involved will likely run him another 3 gold or so?
So all said and done, I can add 92 gold to my wealth?
Also changed Hugos age from 27 to 23...he seemed a tad bit too old compared to the others, mostly in their late teens.

Grizelda Blau |

Working up a post now, should I go ahead and move over to the Gameplay thread? I'm done with the details now, trying to figure out if I want to format it into the profile or just find a way to post the sheet online. Prefrences, Mr. GM, sir?

GM &rew |

@ Grizelda - Your choice, but if you do an online character sheet ensure you put the link on your profile page so i can get to it easily =) Also, please put your key stats on the profile page in the 'Classes/Levels' block for quick use.
@ All - Grizelda is the genesis for your next adventure thread. She will introduce it Friday evening (I want to give the original party a chance to finish their "reunion") As you have seen already, I move these along and expect at least one post a day or a quick note here in Discussion that you're still in but swamped in real life. I will autobot your actions if required!
@ Tomid - sorry - forgot you wanted a chain shirt since you got the leather armor adjusted for you..whaddya need 2 sets of armor for? :p So once again, I wave my Reality-Warping Wand of Infinite Possibilities, and determine that you actually picked up your chain shirt while away on your sabbatical. Sorry, Hugo - but you're Pa won't even miss the business!
This next thread will be a bit more...free-flowing...we'll see how it works! I'm having a gas with this-you guys and gals are awesome! Sorry about the time-warp stuff...sometimes I've pushed things along before everyone was ready. That's the hard part of GMing, I suppose - keeping everyone loosely going in the same direction at about the same speed =)
More fun stuff coming up!!

Grizelda Blau |

Here, I'll help. ^_~
Owlet piccy of Gregor, Grizelda's familiar: WARNING: Saving throw vs Cuteness required!

Hugo Smith |

Damn it ´, all this talk of leather got me thinking of Rammstein! Now in my mind, Hugo looks like Till Lindemann!
Hmmm thats pretty awesome actually now that I think about it. Till is badass.
Btw, my last post got me thinking that I should probably mention, to everyone as well as Zinny, that if my posting somehow encroaches on your own ideas of where you wanna take your characters, let me know.
While Hugos attempts to make Zinny do something about her mother are suitably ham-fisted for his character, I realize you may have something already planned on that front. He isnt likely to stop pestering her about the subject, unless im told to here, ooc.
Just sayin.

Zinny Holbern |

Oh dear.
*looks nervous/excited*
And Hugo, that's fine. :P Zinny is, uh, obviously a pushover socially, if that was not clear, so she won't tell him to stop, but she'll likely not go along with his plans either. I'm just enjoying seeing where it goes.

Doc Ginley |

I had two things to say.
1) I loved the whole gambling with the donation bit Silas did. That made my day
2) I will be able to post tomorrow morning and sunday at night, I will otherwise be away from any internet connection for around 30 hours.

John Keel |

This week's really been a killer on me, folks. Lots of stress at work and insurance headaches. Honestly, I'm kind of intimidated and depressed by the sheer size and length and quality (goddamn Silas, are you a writer?) of everyone's posts. I'm actually considering dropping out of this game after all, simply due to the way my free time has been shrinking more and more over the past month since I originally signed up for this game.
I LOVE these characters, I LOVE Keel (and Jorgan and Gault! Feel free to use them as NPC dudes--I liked Jorgan's popup in Doc's emote!), I love the "adventure" and the down-to-earth grittier humble tone of the entire pseudo-campaign, I love it love it love all of it....
...But I simply don't know if I can continue to measure up to everyone else's amazing standards of posting length and frequency and quality and everything else.
Maybe this is just my pessimism talking at 3:00am. I have no idea. I think I'll go sleep on it...

Zinny Holbern |

If you have to quit due to time constraints, so be it-- I know that pain. :) But you should never quit a game due to feeling like you don't measure up! I really like Keel's posts and your concepts for him. Hope you stay with us.

GM &rew |

John - don't quit the campaign! Sit out this particular adventure thread. Read it as we go, maybe post here in the Cow if you want, and then see where you are for the next one! I have a lot of mini-adventures and one longer one at around 3rd-4th level. Your character and place in the party are fantastic.
In fact, here's your out and a link to future threads...
****************************************************************
"Keel! Get in here." the Captain barks from his office in the City Guard's main headquarters building. Ever since his promotion two months ago, Keel has had to spend a lot more time here, making reports, filling out requisitions, reviewing cases and evidence...all of the mundane but necessary tasks he hates about the job. But for 20 silver more a month, he keeps his head up and mouth closed as much as possible. The worst part of his new position by far, though, is the increased face-to-face time with the Captain. A bitter and mean man in his late forties-early fifties, Captain J. Walker is a real son-of-a-hag who chews you out first and maybe asks you what happened later.
Keel stands from the hard wooden stool outside the office and enters, holding his helmet at his side and standing stiffly at attention. He's learned not to speak first - he'd easily endured the tongue-lashing (hell, his own mother cursed better than the Captain!) but the pewter mug the Captain threw at his head left it's mark...He glances down at the dismal melee of papers, maps, and food crumbs battling on the Captain's desk. Filthy, unorganized, ineffective beast... he thinks, never moving or indicating what he thinks of his boss.
"I have something for your crew to investigate. Seems there's been several reports of thefts and violence in the common quarter - which is nothing strange amongst those horrid peasants - but this has started to infect the merchants' quarter and we can not accept that. While the targets and crimes are different, the details are consistent enough to indicate a small group conducting all of them. Since these scum originated from your district, they're your responsibility. Put your slacker crew to work for once and find these chuckleheads before they do something to someone who matters in Daggermark."
"Well? Why are you still standing in my office? Elbows and a$$holes, Sergeant!" which is Keel's cue to break his statue-esque posture and depart. Once he leaves the office, Keel checks in with the handful of Guardsmen he knows, asking about this case and gathering as much information as he can. He is given copies of the incident reports, including witnesses, victims, and descriptions of property stolen or damaged.
"Well," he thinks to himself, "looks like I'm going to miss that meeting with the group tonight at the Happy Cow. Maybe I can pop in and at least say hello..."

Doc Ginley |

I would hate to see John leave our group. Your posts inject in this storyline something special. You bring home the grittiness of this campaign and the story would be a little bit poorer without you. But if you have to quit, then i would understand. Life can get messy sometimes and hopefully there could be a time when you could join us back

Grizelda Blau |

For what it's worth, I've read the entire gameplay thread now and I quite enjoyed Keel's character. I think it's a mistake to try and evaluate your gameplay based on what others are doing. Some people may have quite a bit of downtime to fill, so it makes sense to put more into the game.
But ultimately, your recreation shouldn't stress you out and Real Life always has to take priority. Happy Gaming, whatever you decide.

GM &rew |

Yeah - I had to stop myself twice yesterday from posting up the next bit...just because I camp out on these boards doesn't mean everyone does =)
Maybe I'll go ahead and assume the group agrees to meet with Drenn and post your initial meeting with him. That's a slightly better RP situation anyways...of course, every time I do that this group comes up with great stuff they were going to say/do and we have a split time/space continuum :p

John Keel |

That's an absolutely fantastic idea! It never occurred to me to simply fade out of this adventure and pop in later when my life clears up a bit. If you'd allow me to do that, it would be absolutely fantastic. Should I post that IC bit in the Gameplay thread?

Hugo Smith |

I personally like how Keels temporary out story you posted, gives a good reason for him being the same level as us if hes gone for a couple of weeks. Ofcourse we will demand a suitably thrilling story for his intro!
Cant wait to find out who these ruffians are :O

Hugo Smith |

Hold on a second, isnt Fiona a human? This Burrbarr fellow just got all kinds of nasty!
"I like tall women, there are so many of them." - Burrbarr Drenn

Hugo Smith |

Oh boy, those kindy kindy gnomes. Well they ARE distant relatives to the prancing fey folk so I guess its to be expected.
Un an unrelated note, why is Farmer Jerrys icon a rat all of a sudden :P ?

Hugo Smith |

Answering here since too much OOC in gameplay is a nono.
No worries, I'm playing Grizzy here to get a better handle on casters, so I appreciate the input, promise! Correcting for Gregor's +3 bonus, that makes the roll a 20. Or do I lose the +2 Alertness bonus too during the day?
Oh good, ive managed to alienate another player from me before, by not making this disclamer before making suggestions / corrections, so im trying to keep it as clear as possible, even when I get the feeling it doesnt need to be said to a particular person.
Alertness works all the time as long as Gregor is within arms reach, so you are good on that one (yes a 20)
