I just want a character that can ride a giant eagle (Roc) in PFS.
I wanted to make a Giant Eagle(lotr) summoner type character for PFS ever since I watched the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit.
My first ideal of a Sky Druid fall threw, when I found out that human's racial heritage feat does not allow race-specific archetypes. (in PFS)
Currently I'm thinking default druid or Eagle shaman (for it more closer to my ideal flavour.)
But The fact that as an Eagle Shaman.... I can't ride a bird (eagle)
Should I just stick with default druid? ToT

Yes you can do it.
If you use the class feature to get the animal companion you have to get an eagle at the druid level for animal companions.
Otherwise you can take the animal domain, and get an animal at druid level -3, of your choosing.
The archetype only restricts what you get from the bonded companion class feature. It has no affect on the domain by RAW or RAI.
Of course many will take the boon companion feat to make the animal chosen by the domain operate at the normal druid progress but spending a feat to get what you could have had from a normal druid is not exactly game-breaking, so its not a power issue.

I have a halfling druid and he rides a Roc and it is fun. I think the Eagle Shaman/Animal Domain seems a little like a round about way to get what a standard druid can get. Sure the Eagle Shaman has some cool bits but my suggestion is to play it straight.
Also, it may just be the way you worded it as "watched" the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, but I highly suggest you read them (if you haven't already) as it is so much better than even watching them, in my opinion!

Thanks everyone. Now I just have to decide if I want to go with a Dwarf Eagle druid (:P) or go with a Tengu. (Our local group is having an ideal of a "all Tengu" party.) :)
@Hendelbolaf,
I had read the first book of the lotr and part of the 2nd and a little of the hobbit. The funny thing is I prefer the "prequel" book, The Silmarillion more.
The epic-ness and tragedy of The Silmarillion really show the depth of the world Tolkien made.
In any case, I just got all 3 lotr books in paperback for $1 each. Going to read them again soon.
