Cleric name!

Advice

Silver Crusade

Looking for some advice here about a name, not sure if it belongs here. I am having heavy issues. I have a name for all of my characters except for the matter of my Cleric, Leona Dawnbringer is my Paladin's name. Any ideas guys? ( Excuse me if this doesn't belong here. )

P.S If anyone also knows are there any arrows that do Slashing damage like Serpent's Tongues arrows?

Race/Ethnicity? Deity? Gender?

I'm big fan of taking words or the names of inspirational characters or historical figures and then mashing them together and changing them ip until they sound good. I've come up with a few names I'm pretty proud of that way. They don't fall into the traps of being too mundane or being straight rips of existing fantasy characters.

Race?

Oh I seem to have left that out, Sorry about that. It's an Elf Cleric Female.

just throw a bunch of vowels in with like a word like moon or shadow or glade and you pretty much have made an elf name generator

as Byrdology has just proven

How about this?

Silver Crusade

That does nothing to help nerd. I don't ask questions without an extensive search first. I went through a few generators.

You need to provide more information then @CT.

Whenever I look for names I make them part of the character background. Such as when or where they were born, was it part of prophecy or on a starless night? What time of the year was it? Who is the deity that they follow? Are they of noble blood or common? What kind of personality should the name evoke?

So much goes into a name for me and you give so little information to us to help you so I just gave you a quick link.

also extensive searching has shown that Dawnbringer is the Smith of paladin last names

Recently came across the name "Hesperos" as an old name for the evening star, and I've reserved it mentally for the next time I need an elfy name. Here, take it, it's free.

Well, clerics talk to/for gods, gods speak celestial, an elven spin on it would be Celestriel. Say it is elven for one who speaks to/for gods.

That's it! I'll run a paladin named Morbidus Babythumper Lamentations-of-the-Innocent VI, and explain that the name has been in the family so long that I couldn't bring myself to change it.

are you of the southhampton lamentations-of-the-innocents, or the newhaven lamentations-of-the innocents?

Removed a post. Name-calling of that sort is not helpful.

EDIT: Oops, sorry -- didn't realize that was part of someone's forum handle. Carry on!

On a more serious note - you'll find histories (and atlases) are excellent resources for finding names. I'm saving "Cairngorm Culloden" for my next dwarf, derived from a mountain range in... Wales, I think?... and a not-very-famous historical battle.

I like to use different languages myself. Usually go to an English to Latin dictionary online and type in some words that are related to what my character is/does.

ahahaha I was going to mention that the dude's forum name is 'uber nerd' but I just figured I missed something else in the post that was naughty

hah! Yep, that's my name. I wear the nerd badge with pride :)

In my mind, I've always seen Elven as the most 'Romance' of the Romance languages and Dwarven as the most Nordic of the Germanic languages. So maybe start with some long and flowery French name and take a cut down diminuative also?

Name the cleric Jesus. When ever you need to make a save and you roll high enough to do so you can yell out, "Jesus saves"!
