Dealing with a Dragon (Bigger / Smaller)

Advice

OK, basic premise: There are going to be 2 Dragons that our group will have to deal with... one is already dead, I was thinking of paying our Cleric to raise the silver dragon (if we stay alive long enough to be able to do it); and the other is very much alive.

Is there a way to increase the size of our potential Draconic Ally with Magic for when we go head to head with the BBEG one we will eventually be facing down?

Our GM might not be on board for this idea, but I'd like to have something to show him that makes sense to help our cause.

Would Enlarge Person work? How about Animal Growth? Polymorph?

Any Ideas would be great.

Alternately, is there a way to reduce the size of our opponent so that we'll be dealing with a "weaker" version? (Spell Resistance aside)

Enlarge Person/Animal Growth - no, the dragon is neither a humanoid nor an animal and will not be subject to either of these spells.

Polymorph will function, but it only allows for small elementals, small or medium humanoids, or animals ranging from tiny to large. None of these are particulary useful for a dragon in combat.

A better bet would be to use conventional buffing spells such as bull's strength, heroism, or haste; straightforward, not particularly flashy, but very effective.

Remember dragons have horrible touch ac because of there low dex like all big things have. The key to taking a dragon down is to find a way to target that ac. The casters will need to have a few ray spells prepared and hopefully they have a decent way to get through SR and ability to bypass resistance/immunity. If the fighter types can get themselves a firearm do it since in 1st range increment they hit touch ac and do decent damage.

If u guys are evil id make the dragon as an undead bloody skeleton to aid in ur blight otherwise dont bother. If ur gonna raise the dragon as any thing other than mindless undead then u run the risk of it turning on u. Having 2 dragons fight u at the same time is guaranteed slaughter. The risk is definitely not worth the reward. My party a while back did that and thought they successfully controlled it but instead it bluffed its way into the party and took advantage of having another dragon at its side to kill the party. Only survivor was my sorcerer using its earth glide to escape.

thanks for the prompt advice.
