Making a character to replace a dead one for a just-turned 6th level party. The rest of the group is a Paladin, Cleric and Alchemist.
Conditions:
Level 6
Either full Wizard or one level dip +Wizard 5
25 point buy
Non-evil, can't be involved in Necromancy
Either human or as close to as possible (Elf would be ok though)
Looking for an idea that is at least reasonably powerful, but is interesting.
Any thoughts?

Blasting is always fun (if kinda suboptimal). You could do pretty well as a Blaster by going one level of Crossblooded Sorcerer with Orc/Draconic bloodlines. Orc gives +1 damage per die for spells and Draconic gives the same except only for a chosen element. And then go Admixture Wizard the rest of the way.

A Human Air Elementalist would be pretty cool.
At level 6 you get at will feather fall and levitate.
Levitate, and later at will Fly at level 10 will let you be pretty damned hard to hit.
Just make sure to have protection from arrows.
Add in the +2 racial bonus applied to Intelligence and you will also have a rather nice 'get away from me' electrical attack that also dazes people you can use half a dozen times a day or more.
Fly +protection from arrows +wand of magic missiles = most annoying opponent ever. Add in Haste and (if you feel like spending the money)Enlarge spell to the wand of magic missile to be even more annoying. With enlarge spell you can fly around >300 feet up above them.
Just TRY hitting someone with a base fly speed of 90 thats buzzing around a couple hundred feet up using an always hit spell. At enhanced casting rates. With protection magic.

I would take magic knack. dip twice dual blood orc/white dragon sorcerer and a dual cursed water oracle(the curse can be anything wolf scarred and deaf would be awesome for this). Wayang spell caster burining hands
Feats Special specialization
rime spell
extra revelation misfortune
a rod of intenify
At level 6
Cold admixture burning hands. Entangle, slowed if they fail their save.
8d4+16 damage all in a 15 foot cone. Then walk away and watch them move 5 feet and do nothing.
You can also cause anyone within 30 feet to reroll a d20 once a day. Friend or foe.

Would your DM permit the Shadowcaster Archetype? How about Thassilonian Specialist (In the Golarion setting and Organized Play, the latter is verboten for villainous overtones, but mechanically it's just a super-specialist, better outside the Golarion setting than in!)?
It doesn't sound like your character is permitted to be a Wayang, but it would be nice if it were - then you could be a Wayang Shadowcaster Pride Mage with truly spectacular powers of illusion.

Thanks for the ideas, folks!
I like the Cold Mage idea, but the last arcane caster I played was a cold-based sorcerer so I want to try something different.
And yes, Wayang is out. It is not that I am not allowed, I just want to play something as close to human as possible.
Right now I am thinking most along the lines of the Air Elementalist... especially the Magic Missile focus... Maybe a force-magic specialist..

Try an Elven Void Mage - they are very cool and very powerful. As an elf, you'll get a ton of uses of Reveal Weakness through their favored class option. You can also take the Spellbinder route as an elf which I also reccomend as part of the character.
I will say though, when I made this character, while he was in no way shape or form in any way a necromancer, I did take a number of spells from the Necromancy school because they fit the flavor of the void of space (Blindeness/Deafness, Suffocation, etc.) and because of that, I took the Spell Focus & Greater Spell Focus feats for Necromancy.

Wow... I've never seen that one before...
Reveal Weakness in particular is freaking amazing.I had already pretty much finished the build, but now I am probably going to re-do it... Thanks for the heads-up!

Kuranes is a dark haired man of medium height and build with vibrant green eyes and a goatee that he fidgets with when nervous. He is brilliant, and devoted to his research, but rather unnerved by what he has discovered thus far. He is simultaneously fascinated by and in deep loathing of the Dark Tapestry. After an unfortunate encounter with an Aboleth that he barely survived he has developed an intense phobia of deep water. He is very careful and logical, able to discover the rational cause of events around him, but gets manic and paranoid if he realizes something is unexplainable... He is a member of the Pathfinder Soceity, and has been sent to track down Nostra Montagna (The former member of the party who turned out to be a spy), an ex-pathfinder who has stolen valuable information regarding a secret and disturbing cult...
Thanks for the help, everybody!
