Yay!
If you've seen them, what did you think of Black Panther and GotG2?

Yeah metal by itself does not usually do that. Just handwaving stuff like that 'It is Vibarium' actually does not portray Shuri as super smart...
They should have just left it as Wakanda medic tech is just that advanced...

Not really argueing... just stating things from my perspective.

What should you do if your brother is coming back from a long trip, he let you use his car, Mom is willing to pay for a new car, but he just wants his old car? I mean I'm sure I'll get in the near future, I just dunno when and I'm not going to be able to pass inspection on this car...
Not knowing your brother...but I do know a little about cars...what is wrong with your car that it won't pass inspection?

Selene Spires |

Selene,
The back passenger side tire wheel well is pretty corroded. I'd have to pay an extra 3,000 just to fix that. That's on top of probably 1,000 - 2,000 to fix the damage it sustain about 6-7 months ago.
This is a 2002 Subaru Forester. I'm not sure putting that kind of money into it worth it.
True...mmm...I think it will pass inspection if the engine light is not on...that really is all they check now a days...
Why won't your brother take a new car?

Thomas Seitz |

Selene,
I already took to my mechanic...they said they didn't think it would.
As for why? Mostly because he wants to keep his car for a while and that he's not interested in looking just now. I think. I dunno exact specifics, but I do know he will probably want to drive it back Sunday night or Monday morning. Maybe. We'll see. Right now all I do know is Mom is picking up in Pittsburgh tomorrow evening around 11:45-11:50 pm. So he'll be quite tired.

So does he know about the damage to the car?
I mean it is his car...he has the right to it. I don't quite understand the problem exactly.

I think I need to clarify this: There are TWO cars involved in this: 1 is a 2002 Subaru Forester that was my brother's when he lived in Iowa for two years. The other is the 2006 Toyota Highlander that was originally my mom's first new car since...even (and also a car she got after my dad passed). She then gave this one (the Toyota) to my brother after he gifted me with the Subaru last year. Now thanks to going to the shop to see if I could get the 2002 Subaru to pass state inspection (which they told me it can't without getting the major repairs) I'm supposedly getting the 2006 Toyota Highlander from him. HOWEVER, because he, my brother, does not wish to relinquish the car until he gets a new one...and I have no idea what he'd want to get, I think he's holding off on the vain hope that since my car's registration is legal (we updated it so it will be legal registration is good until next November), he wants me to drive around with an expired inspection sticker. People do that, but honestly I don't want to.
So you see my problem now, Selene?

Yeah I can see the issue now...
My guess would be your brother wants to wait till the new models are in and/or tax return and/or there is a month when it is a very good time to buy a car...though he may have other motives...
I am not sure about the laws in your state so take this with a grain of salt...
1) Car mechanics are dishonest...I was one so I can see where they exaggerate or out right lie to get work...
2) Getting a your car rejected inspection should extend the time that you have to drive the car.
So I would have a long talk with your brother and mother about this situation so that everybody understand each other's position.
I would also try to get the car inspected...at best the mechanics lied and it passes...at worst you get another month( or whatever the grace period is in your state).
But definitely communicate with your brother.

Yeah but you should at least try talking to him about it...
I now have a lot more free time ... got laid off yesterday. :(
Have you taken a look at Starfinder's Against The Aeon Throne? (In my opinion it is really good.)

I am so sorry to hear that you got laid off...hope you find something really soon.
As for Against the Aeon Throne...I like it. It looks like it would be a fun way to start a campaign.

Against the Aeon Throne isn't flawless (it still uses the broken Aeon Guard from page 6 of the Alien Archives), but it almost made me reconsider Starfinder. ;)
I am still looking for a good alternative to Starfinder, but each system I have looked at also has big problems. So, I am unsure of what to do.
I know you have already given some suggestions for alternatives. Any additional thoughts?

If you can dig it up...and still have a 3.5 rulebook...DragonStar is pretty awesome.

Selene Spires |

Lord Fyre,
I'm sorry to hear that.
Selene....we'll see.
My next question: Do you think they'll ever show Swamp Thing on Legends of Tomorrow?
My guess would be no. :(
As I believe they are developing a show for their streaming channel ghi gee...
All though I guess they could introduce the character on Legends...
