I originally had the idea to be a slightly reckless, impulsive and off the cuff caster. Not really a damage dealer but if the need arises. Not really buffing the party very often. I see this character as a care free caster who truly comes alive overcoming a challenge, usually out of combat. And he has a love of creating new and unique magic items.
Wizard and Sorcerer were my first thoughts. However Wizard has to prepare spells, which doesn't jive with my image of him so much. And the Sorcerer unfortunately doesn't have a lot of spells which classes with the idea of creating items.
Any ideas?

Does it have to be a full-caster type? What about a Bard, Archaeologist archtype? Definitely good for the enthusiastic, "challenge accepted" image I'm getting from you: you need spells? You've got a pretty solid list. You need rogue talents? You've got 'em. You need social and knowledge skills? You've got every one of those. You need to fight something occasionally? Your weapon list is no slouch either.
Seems like your main concern is how to have enough different spells at your disposal to be able to craft effectively -- remember that in many cases you don't actually need to be able to cast a spell to create an item that has it as a prerequisite, as long as you're willing to accept a slightly harder check:
Note that all items have prerequisites in their descriptions. These prerequisites must be met for the item to be created. Most of the time, they take the form of spells that must be known by the item's creator (although access through another magic item or spellcaster is allowed). The DC to create a magic item increases by 5 for each prerequisite the caster does not meet. The only exception to this is the requisite item creation feat, which is mandatory. In addition, you cannot create potions, spell-trigger, or spell-completion magic items without meeting its prerequisites.
You sound like you're more interested in crafting varied wondrous items and the like than cranking out potions and wands, and you'll have skill points galore to crank up your crafting checks.
