Holy Vindicator Build / questions.

Advice

Hey, I am new to the forum but not the game. I was seeking some help actually building a cleric/holy vindicator. We're going to be doing the legacy of fire adventure path just for reference and I've never been a cleric before, and I do like the prestige class. I've read some things about Support Clerics, Battle Clerics and more, as well as the guide on holy vindicator. I was looking for some advice with building the character since it's a bit out of my comfort zone.

First off, the DM isn't allowing rolling, only 15 point-buy. I've never done point buy before, I love to roll, but since I am stuck with this and the DM/my group are good friends, what should I put into my stats as far as priority goes? As far as feats and such I think I can handle those on my own, but any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

You can go into holy vindicator with any class that grants channel energy, just other things to think about. If you plan on using stigmata a lot, I would say bump up con. You will loose a few caster levels, so you might not have to wory about having a high Wis/Cha. The stats are going to be a little tight because of the 15 point buy, and it depends on what you want to get out of this character and how you want to play it, but my stats might look something like 14, 14, 10, 7, 16, 9 before racial adjustment.

STR primary, all bump here (you are a melee fighter). Dex no more than 12, get the feat and use Full plate. Wis is your second stat, you need at least 13 for casting 9th level spell with the headband. If you can get 15 is much easyer.

with 15 pt i'd go for
14
12
14
15
7
10

Human, bump str to 16. You still get 2 skill per level. Even thou you need channel smite to entry the cdp, i suggest saving the channels only for healing inbetween combats. Channeling into damage is a bad trade.
Get a one-handed weapon so you can either go 2H or use a shield depending on the situation.
Use magickal Knack as a trait to get your caster level up so you can get more mileage from divine favor, shield of faith and magic vestment/weapon.
Don't use spells for offense, keep on buffing and healing. Abuse you ability to self empower/maximize the heal spells.
And don't underestimate the ability to channel into the shield. Up to +10 CA and fighting on the defensive can let you hold a chocke for an entyre day unless your dm has the easy 20.

Thanks all for the input. Should I splash any levels of fighter or anything in there, or go straight Cleric, then HV?

Also, besides versatile channeling, what else? I want to have him be a battlecleric -> Holy Vindicator.

I have a 7cleric/1vindicator.

I'd reccomend not spending other levels on fighter or other classes besides the two you already have, as it would lower your caster level further.
With right application of cleric spells + full plate + Vin shield, one could get AC above 35 (I took the defense(protection) subdomain to get Barkskin and Shield).

There is a cleric guide out there that recommends Stalwart Defender levels to become an AC god (at which point you're still as much a caster as a paladin).
You might say AC doesn't matter if you get critical'd, and to that I'd recommend the feat: Fortified Armor Training (and carrying extra shields).

Silver Crusade

I'd take a look at 3 levels of Phalanx Fighter. Nodachi and shield sounds like a good time.
