Tengu Ninja

Does a Tengu make a good Ninja?

Meh. No Charisma bump. Maybe Rogue with Ki Pool talent based on Wisdom.

An alternate racial trait can give you a claw, claw, bite routine at 1st level, which gives you 3 sneaks on a flank, FWIW.

Strap on your Rogue-hate, foul weather gear.

cheers

Strangely appropriate for a tengu.

Nat attack tengu ninja seems cool.

Yes. It's the only race that allows you 3 sneak attacks at first level if you are flanking.

Alternatively, you could go with two bladed sword and get a nice weapon for TWF. Or maybe mix in a short sword or wakizaki when you have enough iteratives to justify multiattack and the penalty to natural attacks. The fact that you can have 3 natural attacks from the beginning, which is the prereq for multiattack, helps make them flexible.

I do personally like the tengu-only swordmaster archetype for rogues though. The full round build up and fatigue after using it might be a pain, but the fact that you can get a conditional pounce at level 3 is great for a race with 3 natural attacks. It might be enough to help justify a standard rogue over a ninja. Maxing wisdom and taking ki and ninja tricks would work out well to get a similar class. Mix in some scout archetype and you have a serious threat running around.

EDIT ADDITION: two levels of sensei monk could also be interesting since it lets you use wisdom instead of strength or dexterity as the mod to add to hit.

Why not Inquisitor or Ranger?

Both make awesome Ninjas.

Lol... I wonder if I looked through a list of your posts, how many would look almost exactly like this?!?

It's becoming a time honored tradition. Anytime someone asks if their build looks good, you most always suggest a different class entirely.

A Tengu Heretic Inquisitor of Graffiacane, or Yaezhing will have all the tricks and proper proficiencies.

Yaezhing is best, as on top of him granting Shuriken proficiency, you can nab the Deception Subdomain.

Way more Invisibility, Teleporting, and other "Ninja" Tricks.

what kind of stats and feats would you suggest for this build? it sounds interesting and I'm considering giving it a try ...

I wish warpriest got Domain spells. Could make an amazing ninja.

Tengu stats are not ideal for ninja, but it's otherwise a pretty good race. Natural attacks, the ability to take different forms, and also the ability to turn into a huge freaking bird are all pretty nice.
