Summon Swarm against Protection from Evil

Advice

The party in this game I'm running has an evil witch and a paladin. I'm wondering how well the Protection from Evil spell would fair against the Summon Swarm spell.

Summon Swarm has no alignment descriptors and swarms are neutral, so the way I see it is that Protection from Evil wouldn't work against the swarms at all.

Could anyone tell me if there is something I'm missing?

Protection from evil would still protect them

What makes you say that?

Did you even try to comprehend the problem before answering?

To the OP: You are right, PfEvil does nothing here.

unless the swarm is evil there is no protection against them from that spell. it mentions evil summons being effected not neutral summons in the third line.

Yes i did.

PfEvil does not say protects from evil summoned creatures. It says summoned creatures. Which mean any, good, evil, or neutral.

Nevermind i am wrong

"Summoned creatures that are not evil are immune to this effect."

Right there in the text of the spell description. Conversely, Protection from Good is effective only vs. summoned Good creatures.

This is a common occurrence in our Ways of the Wicked campaign. Good Outsiders commonly have a Prot. vs. Evil aura. To which the conjurer replies by calling forth Elementals (or Mephits). They will not have the Fiendish or Celestial template as appropriate, but at least they're not kept at arm's length...
