I am making a sea witch who is devoted to Besmara. Like most witches, she might not be sure where her powers come from, but she believes it's from Besmara (and really, why can't a god be a witch's patron?).
Therefore, I am giving her False Focus as a feat.
So, I need one point in Knowledge (religion)
That is where my problem comes in... see, it's my eccentriity i know, but... putting ranks in non-class skills always feels like a waste to me... not getting that 3 rank bonus drives me nuts.
So, I was trying to find a trait that would give her knowledge religion as a class skill.
The only one that I can find that isn't race or campaign restricted is Child of the Temple, which IMO doesn't really fit cause... first Besmara doesn't do temples (but that only matters if you take the name/fluff literal), plus the whole bonus with nobility also is just inappropriate for Besmara.
So, is there any other traits I am missing? I do realize I can take like Cosmopolitan or something, and I might do that (it's worth it for more than that too) but just was wondering if there was any good traits that would serve the purpose I want that she qualifies for?

Well, I just peeked and I couldn't find any for religion that weren't devouted to a specific religion. If its not for PFS you may ask your GM to create a new trait for you. It is important to your backstory after all.
The patrons are left vague. No idea why myself. You can claim Besmara is your patron however.

I think the word temple could be subjective in this instance, Besmara's Temple could be a Ship and Nobility does come in handy when identifying naval officers or maybe prominent pirate families. Maybe you could explain this to your GM and he would consent.
I agree that nobility works in the context of piracy. A pirate would find knowledge of naval hierarchy and power structure useful.

OH I never thought of using nobility for that... hmmm now that actually sounds interesting...

Yeah, creating a new trait wouldn't be a problem, just didn't want to if it wasn't necessary. Although, what Nimon said makes the nobility sound appealing...
As for patrons being vague, the reason is so you can decide what your patron is, or if your witch even really knows. Part of the lore of witches in D&D (and why they were controversial both with Christians AND some Pagans in 2nd Edition era) is that they tap into powers they don't fully understand. But, yeah in this case I think it's appropriate that her patron IS Besmara, especially since she's a Changeling (Sea Hag) and I can easily see a sea hag as being considered a "sea monster" :P

it seems that there is more than 10 traits taht give kn (religion) as class skill.
Linkified, for some reason I see a space in the url in the thread but there's no space when I quote the post it's in, is the forum doing this?

Yes, there 10 technically, but most are ones she can't take. For example, she's not a gnome, so she can't take Zealot. Then she can't take Outlander, Missionary, Teacher's Pet, etc because those are Campaign traits (and she's not in those campaigns). Secret Knowledge is a religion trait, and seeing as how she doesn't worship Norgober, that means she can't take that.
So, seems that Child of the Temple is one of the few she can take, HOWEVER... now that I realize that is actually useful and appropriate since it will let her know the Pirate Kings and such... Child of the Temple it is! :)
