Air subtype metallic dragon.

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Just a question I had, but why is it that there are two fire subtype metallic dragons but not an air subtype one? It's just that it always bugged me. Are there any plans to include one later on, like with a tin or an aluminum dragon?

There's really not much need for a metallic dragon with the air subtype. They have a fly speed and fly as a class skill anyway, and it would be a little unusual for a relatively ordinary european-style metallic dragon to have perfect maneuverability, which air-subtype creatures usually have. There's still a metallic dragon with an electric breath weapon, but it's aquatic/water (and the chromatic one is desert/earth).

Edit: Though actually the imperial Sky Dragon's fly maneuverability is only good and the primal Cloud Dragon's is poor, and they're both air subtype...

The Silver Dragon back in 3.0 was an Air subtype dragon... until they realized that it was only immune to cold without being weak to fire, so they changed it to a Cold subtype dragon.

Its just that the chromatic dragons have an air subtype dragon (the green dragon) but the metallic dragons don't and have an extra fire subtype, and that has always confused me as to why.
But seriously, I think an aluminum dragon would be cool. It could be designed to remind one of a jumbo jet and have a sonic breath weapon.

A platinum dragon could have an air subtype, but I don't know if the platinum dragon is available for OGL.

Huh, I wonder why the green dragon is even air-subtype? Is it just because gas? But yeah I guess silver could be air and not vulnerable to fire, though if it was I'd make the case for gold not being vulnerable to cold. Did Golds lose a swim speed between 3.5 and pathfinder?

They could also add a fire subtype yellow dragon so that both the chromatic and metallic dragons each had an air, water, earth, cold, and two fire subtype dragons.

There's nothing stopping a publisher from creating a new type of dragon, calling it platinum, and releasing it under the OGL. Heck, it's already been done.

No. Gold dragons have a swim speed in both 3.5 and Pathfinder.

Or maybe the brass dragon could be changed to the air subtype, because a lot of wind instruments are made of brass. It could still have immunity to fire and weak to cold attacks as brass instruments play better when they're warmed up and don't play well when they're cold. Its breath weapon could be changed from fire to a column of superheated air that acts like just like fire, or it could be left as is.
