For some time now, I've been eager to play a Wayang character in Organized Play if I can only get my hands on the appropriate boon (my group already has at least 2 Kitsune characters and a Nagaji, but no Wayangs). Should I get it, I plan on making one of two or three things with it, but I'm not sure which. I'm thinking either:
a Shadow Puppeteer (the Wayang-only Bard archetype)
OR
a Shadowcaster and Pride Magic Specialist Wizard
Incidentally, either of these would be the first true illusionist-type character my group has seen.
Anyone knowledgeable have insights, suggestions, or nudges one way or the other?

Since no one has replied, I'll take a shot. I made my Wayang for PFS as a witch. The stats are in the right places, but I wouldn't run Con lower than 12 after the penalty.
I'm not sure how many witch spells are shadow school, but I hope there's a few. The other race abilities are nice, small and the negative energy affiliation. Perception and stealth are both nice skills to get racial bonuses. Overall its nice race and I think it'll be effective for most caster classes.

Um...you might want to know that Wayangs don't have a Constitution penalty. Their penalty is to Wisdom.
As for Witches, I've already got a great Elven one with the Time Patron, and I'm actually not sure they get much in the way of shadow magic - UNLESS they have the Shadows/Darkness Patron (I forget which it's called, but I think it's right there in the Advanced Player's Guide).

I stated up a Fighter 3(weapon master)/wizard 5(teleportation)/EK 5 that would play in pfs.. Used an agile curveblade with weapon finnesse and power attack/gloves of dueling for beats.. Also used the Demensional agility feat tree to great effect.. Combat he would cast CC or party buffs first round, observing combat, and then dim door to percieved most susectable target and ginsu with small curveblade.. Not so sure he could pull the dim door combo in pfs with this level build though.. Would have togo Fighter 1/Wizard 3/EK 8 to reach CL/feat pre-reqs by 12th level..

I realize this thread is a couple months old now, but I just received a Wayang character at a Con and have been considering a ton of different INT / DEX based classes to make it into. If you want a pure class, I'm leaning towards Magus or Alchemist... Their stats are just about perfect for such work, and Alchemist bombs aren't affected by their small size.
I'd really like to figure out the perfect way to build a ray focused Wizard / Eldritch Knight, using a 1 level dip in either Barbarian or Gunslinger for the Martial Weapons.
I've honestly spent about 10 hours over the last two days just looking at all the possibilities. I feel like a small character without a STR penalty should somehow factor into my build!
