Preparing for Ragnarok
Norse archetypes for only the mightiest of clerics by Joseph Davis including:
- Lorewielders of Odin: The Lorewielders are a small faction of Clerics within the church of Odin. They celebrate and embrace the sacrifice the All-Father made to bestow us all with the secrets of life and magic. In times of trouble they take up the banner of war, to aid the people and calm them with their extensive knowledge.
- Warhammer of Thor: The Warhammers of Thor lead armies of the faithful in the fervor of battle. They are stalwart warriors, never running from a foe, and turning the tide of the most desperate situations. No foe has ever withstood an assault from the faithful of Thor, and they will not give an inch to the forces of darkness during the time of Ragnarok.
- Mercybringer of the Open Handed God: Like their namesake, the mercybringers are champions of the people. They are typically the most beloved and charming people in the community from which they hail, while also being valiant defenders. Mercybringers ask little of the community, but give so much in return, even their lives, all in the service of the god who would give up everything for his people. Before Ragnarok, the holy symbol most commonly carried was a flower, designed to look like the sun. After his death at the hands of Hod, the holy symbol used is designed after a sprig of holly, in remembrance of their fallen god.
- Justicar of Tyr: Judges and enforcers, the justicars are elite lawbringers. They often serve small communities as experts in all things related to law and order. Justicars are more than judges and jurists however; they often serve as military advisors, giving Tyr’s unique tactical insight to military leaders in times of conflict. They also serve communities as exorcists, casting out and binding harmful forces.
- Swiftfoot of Heimdall: The Swiftfoots are members of Heimdall’s faith who are nearly permanently afflicted with wanderlust. They share their god’s love of travel, and his affinity for great speed. Many Swiftfoots find gainful employment among merchant caravans as spiritual guidance, scouting proficiency, and more often than not a good luck charm. Swiftfoots are not simple travelers though, they have to learn to defend themselves when on the open road, lest they fall prey to all the dangers of the wild.
- Lifetender of Freya: Freya is a goddess of love, beauty, honor, protection, and the home. The Lifetenders of Freya are a sect of all-female clerics who dedicate themselves to be the paragon of a community, or group. Lifetenders serve as guardians, advisors, midwifes, doctors, and more often than not military leaders in many communities. They are as at home healing the sick as they are slaying bandits.
