Intrest Check in Earthdawn PbP for Pathfinder

Recruitment

Dark Archive

Earthdawn was the game that introduced me to roleplaying, as such it has always had a special place in my heart. It came out when I was in highschool, and I have been playing Rpgs since.

Recently I found a pathfinder version of Earthdawn by Redbrick on RPGnow. I still have most my 1st edition books, so I just bought the players and gamemasters guide to see what was changed. I have to be honest this doesn't look like the best conversion ever done, but with a little tweaking I might get it to work nicely. One thing for example is there will be matrixes in my game, and even though it is mentioned in the players guide in a story I saw no mechanical rules for matrixes in the Redbrick version, so that is something I will have to develop.

I want to find out how much intrest there is for an earthdawn pbp by pathfinder befor I attempt to put one on these boards. I really only want players who are familar with Earthdawn, because it is a unique kind of world it would be difficult to explain every aspect of it.

i dont know what earthdawn is but im up forit

I loved the Earthdawn setting and assumptions.

I'm suspicious that a Pathfinder 'port of the setting will destroy much of the setting flavor through elimination of the core mechanics that developed/reinforced that flavor.

Matrices, certainly.

Thread magic as a whole, though, including binding Threads to Named items and learning the History of a Named item in order to be ABLE to bind Threads to it at all.

The inherent magical nature of class abilities. Almost all class abilities were magical in nature, while Pathfinder most certainly details otherwise.

I have played in a couple of extended Earthdawn campaigns, and would certainly be interested in a PbP version. I believe I have the Pathfinder copies of the game as well.

They do seem to have kept the idea of Disciplines being magical, and all races retain karma, and there is thread magic, but I need to read it more. I will try to flesh out the rules more to fit my campaign idea. I was thinking crawling through the jungle of Parlanith, possibly incorperating some things from the Serpant Skull AP from pathfinder, but with a lot more Earthdawn-esque feel.

Earthdawn is something I'm only vaguely familiar with but always wanted to try.

I will continue to work with the materials I have, but to do this one right I need a lot more time I think.

Thanks for your intrests, if you are anxious for a game, I do have one up that is still recruiting for Neo Exodus campaign setting called Silver Nexus that is recruiting until the 12th. I think a couple of you are working on characters for that. These PbP are not difficult for me though so I was going to offer a third for the community, APs seem to be the most desireable so I may look into one of those.
