Alchemist bomb questions

Rules Questions

Hey guys,

One of my PCs is a level 1 alchemist, so I have a few questions about how bombs work:

1) The APG reads: "Creating and throwing a bomb requires a standard action that provokes an attack of opportunity." So can a level 1 alchemist create and throw two bombs in one round (as a full-round action)?

2) The APG also says: "An alchemist can use a number of bombs each day equal to his class level + his Intelligence modifier." If the alchemist uses a cognatogen, I assume that temporarily bumps his daily bomb max by 2, but that the raised maximum goes away when the effects of the cognatogen wear off?

3) The reflex save DC for avoiding splash damage is 10 + Int mod. + 1/2 alchemist level. Do you round the last part up to 1 at level 1? I know there are few situations where you round up in PF, but I think I heard somewhere that sometimes when you divide 1 in half you round up to 1.

Sorry if these questions are dumb. I'm new at this!

1) no. You're still bound by the standard action limit, meaning once per round.

2) nope, temporary bonuses won't affect daily limits.

3) almost always round down unless stated otherwise.

You can't perform two standard actions in a full-round action. Just like you can't use a full-round action to cast two fireballs, you also can't normally use one to throw two bombs.

However, the Fast bombs discovery allows you to throw multiple bombs with a full-round action, just like a full-attack (including two-weapon fighting, rapid shot, haste, etc.). See this FAQ for verification.

Ability Score Bonuses: "Ability score increases with a duration of 1 day or less give only temporary bonuses. For every two points of increase to a single ability, apply a +1 bonus to the skills and statistics listed with the relevant ability."

"Intelligence: Temporary increases to your Intelligence score give you a bonus on Intelligence-based skill checks. This bonus also applies to any spell DCs based on Intelligence."

So just like a temporary bonus to charisma doesn't give a cleric more channels, a temporary bonus to intelligence will not give an alchemist more bombs.

Playing the Game: "Unless otherwise noted, whenever you are must round a number, always round down."

Rounding: "Occasionally the rules ask you to round a result or value. Unless otherwise stated, always round down. For example, if you are asked to take half of 7, the result would be 3."

Awesome, thanks guys.
