Is a gish witch feasible?

Advice

Character concept is a Ftr 2 / Witch 10. Arcane Armor Mastery and medium armor, a bigass weapon, and optimized for self-buffing. Yes, I know this is going to be suboptimal, because gish. But I'm wondering how not-so-bad I can make it.

Is there are resource for these sorts of gish builds? No PrC, I just want to build a badass caster who wears black chain mail and carries a big axe? -- Anyway, suggestions v. welcome.

Doug M.

It's not exactly gish but if you get to 18th level witch you can use the summon spirit hex, depending on patron you get gate for free, etc.

OP, I've played around with something like this, myself.

I think if you're going for not-so-bad, concentrate more on synergising your witch debuffs with your ability to lay in the nastiest crits/coup de grace you can.

Concentrate both for your combat moves and roleplaying, on being a 1 on 1 warrior, call baddies out, isolate them, challenge them to take you on in good pure combat, if they have the guts yada yada yada herp derp

You won't be the best melee character, but that doesn't matter if your opponent is asleep for a coup de grace or debuffed to the point that they're rolling multiple D20's with minuses and taking the worst rolls.

Also, look into the Scarred Witch Doctor Archetype. If you're going to be in Melee, turning CON into your casting stat can be awfully nice.

Is there a reason you're not checking out the hexcrafter?

Hell yes. I've been plotting to roll up a barbarian//scarred witch doctor for our gestalt game for a while now.

Scarred Witch Doctor (Con as primary casting attribute), one level in martial class that allows entry to Eldritch Knight and Prehensile Hair.

ahahaha man I just studied that magus archetype like crazy a week ago, and it totally did not occur to me suggest it, good call

Since I recall you using some 3pp in the past...

The very last Kobold Quarterly had a witch alternate class that focused on fighting with gauntlets. You can find it here.

Super Genius Games also has the Hellion class which is a 3/4ths BAB version of the witch. They still get spells of course, but might fit your theme a bit better.

Kobold Quarterly's website also has several racial variants on the gauntlet witch, posted to their Articles section over a period of a few weeks after KQ23 came out.

Our group will be starting Carrion Crown in the foreseeable future. My LN cleric of Ragathiel, optimized for initimidation, has the Leadership domain, and will automatically attract a cohort at 8th level. I'm thinking the hellion would make a fine choice for that cohort.

Lemme just drop some science here!

yeah that is a good guide plus if I ever start a band it will either be called "STRENGTH RANGER" or "THE BATTLESNAKE"

White Haired Witch/Sohei Monk/Eldritch Knight.

It's in the guild to the guides thread(under guide to the builds) and it looks pretty awesome.

"Defiler" works, too!

Any reason why your not using EK?
