Sweet! The AP/PFS rules are a little vague in parts, but I have managed to get my head around them, let me know if any parts leave you wondering WTF :p

M Human Commoner/1, Expert/1

Sweet! I recently joined Kelgar's PFS game with a halfling cleric. So if we do make the jump I could register Bastagar and toss you my PFS number.

Fluid Inter-dimensional physically detached consciousness Roguish Healer/4

PFS# would be the Pathfinder Society Member number thingy I got when I was clicking on all the buttons when I first made my profile? If so, then yeah, if not then I don't think so.

You don't have to apply the credit to the same PC you are playing in Reign of Winter.

The way the APs work, it's like you're playing a "pregen" (i.e. the iconics like Valeros, Kyra). You actually can apply the credit to ANY PFS character you want. You could absolutely create a "PFS Bastagar" and apply credit to him.

You could also toss the credit onto your existing PFS character. It will give them +3XP and a full level if you do so.

You'll need to wait to finish the requisite areas in the AP first, though.

Minor Crab-beast

Yep - both groups are currently at area H and the PFS credit section ends at area P, so there's a little ways to go yet.

My main research before committing will be around the timing of it and whether there is any expectation of the AP being followed as written - as both groups have had some customization with missed sections or changes to adversaries and such.

Male Dwarf Inquisitor | AC19 T11 FF18 CMD 15* | HP 30 | F+7* R+3* W+7* | Init +4 | Per +9* | Sense +9

For the most part, I believe you can customize to your heart's content, as long as the spirit of the adventure remains mostly the same.

Ultimately I think it's about rewarding folks for having a good time (and buying more Paizo products)

:)

M Human Commoner/1, Expert/1

Free XP? Sounds awesome! Sign me up! :P

Male Human(Ulfen) Bard(Savage Skald) 2

As a VL, I feel confident in weighing-in, here.

With the APs, you currently have two ways of gaining credit:

1) Running the 'sanctioned sections' with PFS characters, and running it *as written*.

2) Running the AP books as a 'home game' with non-PFS characters (in which case, you can customise however you want), and then applying credit to a PFS character when you finish the relevant book.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Thanks for coming and setting that straight, I have just spent a while searching for that answer :P

Good to know!

I for one would be keen on credit :)

Male Dwarf Inquisitor | AC19 T11 FF18 CMD 15* | HP 30 | F+7* R+3* W+7* | Init +4 | Per +9* | Sense +9

#2 is what I had in mind when I suggested the idea. :)

HP 35/39 | AC 16 CMD 17 | Fort +7 Reflex +1 Will +5 | Perception +7 Initiative +1

Is the free XP simply for PFS purposes? Or would it create an imbalance between team members in these games? (Forgive me, I'm somewhat ignorant of PFS.)

Minor Crab-beast

Klo - just for PFS. Basically means you could get a free level on a PFS character if the chronicle is registered.

Male Pyg Skilled Bushwhacker/Scout

It's XP for your PFS character. I believe it has to be applied to a lower level character though? So my level 6 Gunslinger wouldn't qualify but my level 1 Alchemist would.

HP 35/39 | AC 16 CMD 17 | Fort +7 Reflex +1 Will +5 | Perception +7 Initiative +1

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. Carry on. :)

Minor Crab-beast

Olaf would know... what with being a 5 star GM and Venture-Lieutenant for Sydney :P

Male Dwarf Inquisitor | AC19 T11 FF18 CMD 15* | HP 30 | F+7* R+3* W+7* | Init +4 | Per +9* | Sense +9

It's a level 1-2 credit for the first book, so you'd really want to apply it on a level 1 or level 2 character anyway, otherwise if you did in fact get it on a level 5 character, the gold is pretty abysmal for going from level 5 to 6.

I do not have a PFS character but I'd like to have one. I'll see about registering after this test on Friday.

Minor Crab-beast

Paizo site has been like treacle for me tonight which has hampered the ease of posting. I'm out of the office for the full day tomorrow, so shall have next in game post tomorrow night (my time).

Minor Crab-beast

Aaand today I was meant to get home at 5pm... which turned into 9:30pm... which turned into 1am as I am writing this and I need to get up again at 6am for more of the same fun I had today (Wellhead and X-Mas Tree FATs which are taking far too long...) - so rather than half-arse the post... I shall wait one more day and full-arse it tomorrow.

Your undying patience is a blessing unto me and I am thankful for it.

Minor Crab-beast

FAT went pretty well - only need to follow up on four NCRs, of which only one was baffling (how do you machine a groove six centimeters out of place?). Worst part was just how painfully long it took to get pressure tests.

Happy three months playing all, and I hope you're having as much fun as I am :) It's interesting to see that both parties are at essentially the same place in the AP and within sniffing distance of going up their first level... assuming that you survive that which lurks within the lodge :P

HP 35/39 | AC 16 CMD 17 | Fort +7 Reflex +1 Will +5 | Perception +7 Initiative +1

Second final down. I had a bit of a nervous breakdown after the Pathology final and had to put this one off for a week. I kind of got myself so worked up that I made myself sick and didn't get out of bed for four days. I was up studying all night last night so I hope my rhyme wasn't too far off. It's been forty hours since I slept and I'm afraid I'm a bit loopy.

Night!

PS: I've kind of indicated how much money is on line in tuition here. We're in hock so far for about $100,000. Knowing what is on the line, they gave us a 3 hour, 150 question midterm. The class average was a 64. A passing grade is a 70. I fell apart and just sat in bed stunned for four days. I saw one of my friends today at the makeup test and her eyes were completely bloodshot. She has been crying for almost two weeks solid now. Another student committed suicide last week, the first that I'm aware of since starting a year ago. Statistically, we should have six attempted suicides in the two years of our basic sciences and although I don't know how many successes, one is upsetting enough. It's been very difficult as she was a popular girl and most of us knew her.

Everything I was told about medical school before coming was true - I just didn't understand the scope of the pressure. Maybe I'm over-sharing, but every time I closed my eyes to try to sleep last night, my father's face appeared before me saying, "You failed, fine. But couldn't you have failed out a hundred thousand dollars ago?"

Needless to say, I never made it to sleep. I did pass this test today however, so one bullet dodged.

VC - Sydney, Australia

I remember this feeling, I think we called it 'Royal Military College' - so many in, so few out.

That said, congrats on passing, now maybe a rethink and reposition on how to approach and tame this Medical School beast! :)

Minor Crab-beast

Hilde - sounds brutal, don't feel shy about taking a break if you need to.

I'm okay now, thank you for the understanding. I have one more final in five weeks and it's the big one. I will need to make a 70 on it which is 2 points over the class average. Fortunately, my other classes are finished and so won't take my time. 8)

Between guests in town, babysitting both of our tots all day while my wife is at a conference and struggling with exercise induced leg pain I've not managed a post today... hopeful for tomorrow.

From Fey Revisited: In contrast with some of Golarion’s more revered fey, redcaps embody nature’s cruel, sadistic underbelly. Like a wolf ’s unconscious desire to dismember its prey slowly, savoring each crack of bone and slurp of blood, redcaps’ violent natures are simple, natural, and inexplicable. To these creatures, death is glorious. Messy, visceral death brought about in close quarters is even better. No trap, weapon, or tactic is too over the top for redcaps (stomping victims’ heads into mush with their spiked boots is a favorite).

Book's got some nice info in there for flavor and what not.

Should be getting me Fey Revisited soon, and just in time, Cearb brought down his first foe, time to put his dancing boots on.

Yeah, It will be interesting to see. I haven't peaked on the other side of the campaign yet, but after this scene wraps up I may.

That's ok, the dice betrayed me too, I was hoping Elghund would get a good roll off so thatI could justify the Meta of not having a rogue at his back clearly now in a position to shift around and start Sneak attacking. Now he has an open flank.

Sounds like things aren't going too well in the Black House game. That's too bad. Things are turning around for us Fairie. Hilde landed her first attack! Rejoice!

Fey Revisited is a good read, mostly fluff - but still useful.

Both houses are proceeding along pretty well in this fight... but the lodge / DM still has a few tricks up it's sleeves ;)

Meh, I can't watch that UFC stuff. I can't even watch boxing.

If you are interested in my views on that kind of thing...

Spoiler:
I went over to a friend's party one night and they had pay per view of it on. I tried to watch it but about halfway through the first fight I'd had enough. From what I saw, the athletes were mostly fine people and I was shocked at the level of good sportsmanship, which you don't get in boxing. The brutality of it was off the scale however.

I've not gone through all this misery to be a doctor just to watch two men deliberately beat each other until they're crippled.

The NFL is in court fighting a slew of recent studies which show that concussions have cumulative effects and while every knock out is a concussion, not every concussion leaves you knocked out. When the first lawsuits started a decade ago, they had a study done which showed they were not additive. Those studies are now being widely discredited and you could see the NFL facing something similar to what the tobacco industry faced twenty years ago.

My friends all tell me that UFC is the sport of the future. Once the lawsuits begins though, I think you're looking at the end of both it and boxing. The NFL has so much money however, that I don't know what is going to happen to them. At a minimum, my attorney brother should be able to move into a bigger house.
