PFS Barbarian advice - help with rage powers

Advice

Race: Gnome
Class: Invulnerable Rager
Starting Stats: Str:15 Dex:13 Con:16 Int:7 Wis:11 Cha: 14

1-Fey Foundling
* Guarded Life
3-Power Attack
* Lesser Spirit Totem
5-Furious Focus
* Spirit Totem
7-Step Up
* Quick reflexes/ Clear Mind / Renewed Vigor
9-Following Step
* Spirit Totem Greater
11-Step up and Strike
* Guarded Life Greater

This is my first ever Barbarian build. My question has anyone taken a character past level 10 and found the Spirit Totem chain to be useful? Seems powerful at low levels but at higher levels is it even worth it?

Should I maybe take Guarded Life, Greater at level 10 instead?

Alternately here is a set of Rage Powers I've whipped up in case I want to lower my CHR and up my WIS score.

Guarded Life
Knockdown
Renewed Vigor
Renewed Vitality
Auspicious Mark
Guarded Life Greater

/pity bump

You should really consider getting the feat raging vitality. Also, why not pick up the beast totem? It gets you pounce. (Edited because I forgot the not in the second sentence)

Well I for one have a retired barbarian that took the spirit totem chain, and frankly I regretted it every time I played. The spirit rarely did any significant damage. The entropic shield almost never came up, and the 10th level one...sucks. Yes it's constant damage, but it's too low to be useful. The beast totem chain is by far the best.

Before I start making more suggestions, perhaps you should describe your character more, as in, what do you want him to do, because the choice of gnome is very suboptimal.

Hmm... OK well thanks for sharing your experience with the spirit chain. That's what lead me to ask. It sounded more like good flavor than anything.

Two handed weapon specialist basically. Probably pick something with a decent crit range and get it keen'd.

I'm curious why you chose gnome. The penalty to Str as well as the small damage dice is very painful. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ump_KFzNoD7x6aJ9ywGank5G9DzSVlef28bBbju Iq2U/edit?pli=1 Is one of the best I've seen for detailing the dos and don'ts of making a powerful barbarian.

May I also add that the weapon you are looking for is: No-Dachi. 1d10 18-20 x2. The only weapon better is the Falcata, but that costs a feat.

Liberty's Edge

Maybe he's not out to super optimize?

Knockdown, Auspicious Mark, and the Elemental Totem are all worth considering.

Yah I'm not looking to make the world's greatest damage dealer. I'm looking for a challenge as well as having people doubt my powers. And to see how many gnome tossing jokes I get after chopping a few enemies in half.

Elemental may be the way to go. I've already spent 8-10 hours creating this character, whats a few more! :]

That last bit was what I was looking for in my first request of a description. I will suggest a few other things. You have combat reflexes. Get the RP Unexpected strike. Come and Get Me might also work with your flavor of being underestimated. Granted, it has some risk associated with it. Furious Focus is frankly weak. It works on one single attack (which at low levels and every other level is trumped by weapon focus due to iterative attacks and AOOs). You first attack generally has a great chance of hitting, it's the others you need the bump for.

Raging Vitality happens to be much better than Guarded Life. You get the same 1 hp per barbarian level in the form of a higher constitution while raging, and raging while unconscious will save your life at higher levels.

I don't see the need for Fey Foundling. I think you're beter off grabbing Power Attack at first level and Raging Vitality at third (or switch the two). This would allow you to grab one of your other chosen rage powers at level 2. If you're going with Spirit Totem, you had might as well grab the Lesser version ASAP, because it's going to be best at low levels anyway.

OK thanks. Was starting to doubt Furious Focus for a barbarian. Weapon focus might be better...

Weapon Focus in PFS is kind of a no-brainier, since you get full control of your gear selection. Halfling and Gnome Barbs work fine in PFS. Make sure you have a few useful out-of-combat skills to support your group: year 4 seems more balanced towards skill challenge-like scenarios.

I don't see the need for Weapon Focus either. Barbarians have very little trouble hitting. If you DO want extra ease hitting your target, instead of Weapon Focus grab Extra Rage Power: Reckless Abandon. Instead of +1, you get +1 for every four levels while raging.

If you want people to underestimate you, they won't spect the little gnome to pounce on them and tear them apart. The beast totem line of rage powers is probably one of the two best rage power chains you can invest in. The othe being spell sunder.

I'm playing a Human barbarian with Chainmail, heavy Shield, and Bastard Sword...I'm planning on keeping my AC up and will take Combat Expertise at 3rd level...use the Rage bonus to pump AC and be a decent tank barbarian.
unlike 3.5 in PF a Barbarian can use Combat expertise while Raging
