8th Level Cleric Faster Casting

Advice

I have an 8th level Cleric. At 8th level, he has some nifty spells and powers, but they all take a full round action. I've got a lot of concentration stuff, so I can cast in combat, but it would be great if I could cast a few awesome buffs on the fly or channel without loosing a round.

The fast casting feat lets you do this, but it eats up a spell slot 4 levels higher (which will limit its usefulness for a long time).

Is there anything else that would help?

A metamagic rod.

It seems to me the cleric is meant to be a caster while the inquisitor is meant to be the holy warrior. PF clerics got an awesome ability in positive energy compared to the highly specialized turn undead of old that did not even work at high levels unless you were fighting a bunch of chumps(who are a negligible challenge anyway). The loss of heavy armor and so many domains buffing others but not the clr itself really takes it's ability as a martial down a noth if not several.

If you look through 3.5 material, you can find several swift action spells and magic items. I feel Paizo has dropped the ball on such. They seem to have given the inquisitor/magus several swift action options, maybe because they expect those slow casters to be attacking instead of casting spells. As for the other classes, we are mostly deprived of the resouce of swift actions with almost none being available.

Be warned Divine meta magic has errata requiring the regular meta magic feat of the same type as a prerequisite. It is very good but very expensive in resources of both feats and positive energy. The common trick of using night sticks crawls into the realm of being cheesy, especially since they were meant for turning undead, not other uses. Likewise, quicken turn should not be for any use of positive energy, at least not without extra cost to it, like another 1 or 2 chages spent to activate for only one actual use.

The feat Quick Channel lets you channel as a move action by spending an extra use of channel energy.

This. Especiallyy if you have access to this and the feat that lets you pick between pos/neg energy channel, and some bonus charisma.

Also, I'm not sure what else you want to do. Do you want to get into combat and swing a sword, do you want to touch attack debuff/bad touch, do you want to cast twice in one round?

I'm just not sure what else you'd be doing besides moving or attacking. AFAIK you can only cast one spell per round, and between Quick Channel and being in the right place you can heal/damage channel and attack/spell in one round. That's pretty strong.

You didn't mention how your skill points are distributed, or who your deity is, or your feats. There may be some other things you can do to get more out of your round, but mostly you're probably just be buffing/debuffing up front, then moving into combat. Depending on what else you'd like to do you'll get different options from people (like combat feats for a battle cleric).

Same reason fighters don't get flurry... ps: No divine Metamagic anymore. Fewer swift and immediate spells... like casters really need that power creep boost?
Seriously though:

Plenty of domains have swift or immediate action abilities, the fervour inquisition gives one free quicken in a round, familiars can UMD, contingency is affordable

Half casters get a boost but if you want to swap 9thlevel spells for their pitiful party tricks play one. Essentially your a caster: you should have the wisdom or wit to be prepared or at the very least the feat focus and the spell level where ONE of your spells is = to 3 of their feeble minor magics.

Thank you for your advice. I'll use Roberta's advice. In the future I'll play inquisitors. I was new to pathfinder so that was what I picked.
