Temple sword

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Where are they found, and what are their stats? I tried looking them up on the pfsrd, but all I got was a description with no stats. Thanks in advance.

Eastern Weapons page.

1d8 damage, 19-20/x2 crit. Weighs 3 lbs, has the Trip quality.

Thanks again.

I refuse to use these on account that they look so stupid. Anyone know what sword in real life this is suppose to resemble?

Yep, that's a great example of a temple sword. You hang bells on them and carry them during Hindu ceremonies.

The bells are jangled during ritual possession and dancing, and are carried by oracles. The blade itself vibrates and creates music. Touching worshippers with the sword blesses them.
They aren't used in combat in the RW.
The similar ritual staffs of the Buddhist monks (with the rings for jingling) was meant to warn away animals while the monk travelled on pilgrimage and magically frighten evil spirits as well... Some staffs of this kind are used in martial arts but originally they exemplified ahimsa, since they allowed avoiding confrontations.
Perhaps a similar intent exists with the temple sword, considering their mutual origins in South Asia.

Temple Sword Description; Found in the Advanced Player's Guide and in the Ultimate Equipment Guide

Thanks Hogarth and Jeff. The real life one looks better. I guess who says it has to look exactly like the illustrations.
