Advice

I'm about to start playing in a Rise of the Runelords game and I have a human bard with 4 extra languages to select and wanted to know if there were any languages in particular that are used more often than others and I have the Scholar of the Ancients trait which gives me Thassilonian.

Ancient Thassilonian and Giant are a must.

For the other two I'd go with either Goblin and Draconic or two languages the other party members speak so we could talk audibly but privately in most situations.

Starting languages should fit with your character concept and background story, if you want to learn campaign relevant languages later on, that's what linguistics is for.

If your character is not of Varisian descent this would be a good general option or maybe even Shoanti if he traveled Varisia a bit in the past. With the history of the Sandpoint region Goblin is definitely a good idea, though.

He is going to be a student and Varisian so Draconic seems to make sense but do I get Varisian free then?

You usually get the regional language of the region you grew in up for free, but double check with your GM, if not Varisian is probably something you want to choose then.
