Origins GM registration is live. To sign up to GM, go to GM Application.
In 2013, PFS at Origins seeks to raise the bar. For starters, we aim to be a place where level 12+ characters can find new adventures to embark on. With that said, we are going to be running all 4 parts of Eyes of the Ten series for those characters at level 12. Then we are looking to run a level 12+ table of Race for the Runecarved Key. On Sunday, we look to cap it all off with the level 14 module Tomb of the Iron Medusa. Other highlights for PFS at Origins include the running of Thornkeep from Pathfinder Online, Part 1 of Jason Buhlman’s special dungeon in the PFS Special: Ruins of Bonekeep, the EX Special Day of the Demon, and the brand new scenarios released in April and May. Lastly, we are looking to end Origins with a lot of fun for those who stick around. We are holding our first annual Goblin Bash. That’s right, we will be ending it all with Goblin fun. There may even be an appearance by some Goblins looking to see how devious of a Goblin everyone is being.

Chris,
Good catch, I have adjusted it accordingly.

mikem91,
First Steps is being run Thursday through Saturday and can easily be added/swapped in if an event doesn't fill or with overage GMs. There will also be Beginner Boxes ran Friday and Saturday. They are easy to swap in as well. There will be plenty of level 1-5 scenarios as well so you can go from First Steps to start playing them at level 2.
michaelane,
PM sent.

I still have some GM slots and possibly HQ slots available. I have Hotel space for 8 more GMs. With these 8, not only will we have enough to fill my current availability but also have a good amount of overflow GMs. For those not needing a hotel space or are local, go ahead and sign up for 4 slots to get a GM badge. To sign up, go to GM Application.

There are still some open GM slots left and plenty of Hotel space as well. I can use GMs for each day with the main priority being Thursday night 7pm slot. If interested, go to Origins GM Application to sign up.

Origins 2013 event signups are live. If your planning to go, now is the time to sign up. There are already numerous events sold out and many more close to being sold out. To register, go to here. I do still have room for 1 more GM in the hotel, if interested, please go to Origins 2013 GM Application.

There are a lot of events already sold out but still plenty available to sign up for. If interested in signing up for events, please check out Origins Gamefair Registration.

Don't forget, Origins Game Fair pre-registration will end on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 11:59pm EDT. For those wanting in on We Be Goblins Too, there were 6 spots left last I checked. I will most likely have 1 GM available to be an overflow for it but there is no guarantee to get in on it with generics.

Got back late last night, and finally recovering after a long sleep. Had an awesome time at my first Origins, and ran tables for some excellent players. I'm definitely going to have to try and add this as a regular to my con schedules.
Things were well organized and from a GM's perspective ran pretty much flawlessly. Well done Michael and his crew manning HQ.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Just got back home, had a grandson while at Origins.
First well done Michael McNerny.
Some simple highlights of the con for me. Not in any order.
Playing at Kevin's table 2x !!! Both I will remeber "We'll come back for you" and playing with M. Costello M. McNerny and June S.
Running a Midnight Madness table and impregnating a player with a Xill.
Listening to Sheila Heidemark, it was hilarious. I wish I had recorded it on my phone.
Seeing Mr Costello getting his 5th star.
Getting to GM for Chris Mortika, who did some funny stuff with a frog.
I will make it next year it was a fun time.
HQ was well run and had allot of cool local support.
Congrats on all the hard work McNerny.
Chris

I had a great time there! I was GMing Eyes of the Ten, so I didn't get to see a lot of different people, but the Eyes of the Ten table was a blast! (Although now I will cringe a little everytime I hear a player say "I cast litany of righteousness".) I did enjoy encouraging my Bonekeep table to become entirely part-yeti.
I can't wait to see you guys next year!

Quite good indeed. I feel that I learned an awful lot from my roommates and the other GMs at the convention. Special thanks also goes to Mike, for making me feel a bit less awkward about a situation involving a player at one of my tables and to Michael, for putting up with my relentless and incessant questioning throughout the weekend. I come home feeling that I have certainly improved as a GM and gained a substantial amount of perspective on PFS and RPGs in general, and it's all thanks to the wonderful people that I met while in Columbus.

You know, next year, there ought to be time for a meet-and-greet, so we can better associate board names with real faces.
Agreed. Who is the real TOZ? :)
I GM'd for the first time at a convention this year. It was a lot of fun. The organization was very smooth. The guys at the organizing table were great the entire week.

Had a great time! Congrats Mike McNerney on such a great show.
I thought Sheila was absolutely smashing. Got to sit in on Mike Costello's 150th game, which was exciting! Glad to see familiar faces this year and to have met some new folks.
Sorry to have disturbed the room with my Tilly all weekend long :)

I sat in for three games at Origins, and went and played a ton of Catan, and other board games.
Of the three games I played, The 7-11 Words of the Ancients was the best, as the lovely lady who prepped it, actually, well - prepped it.
The real qripe was the table Saturday evening of (Dwarven ancients or something?) which the gm did not prep the mod, hand waved of fights, and just general annoyance that we wanted to play. This to me, was a disappointment of the highest caliber. I withdrew into reading books for the module to just finish. It was absolutely a waste of time, other than multiple traps at the first level, and only one nugglub on the second floor, we didn't do anything else? I'll be replaying this sadly someplace else locally to see if I can actually figure out if there is a story to be had.
The other table I don't blame the guy who ran Way of the Kirin, Sunday, it was a pick up table and he accommodated us, and really that's all that can be asked.
Overall, I think it was Tracy who ran the best game of the weekend for me, and I appreciates that, and thank you for your time and consideration to prep it ma'am.

I got to sit at Mike's 5th star table too! That was a horrible streak of nat 20s he was rolling, but we squeaked out a win. I didn't make any friends running Bonekeep, but all my other scenarios went off fairly well. My player deathrate was kinda high which wasn't intentional, but at least the family playing Words of the Ancients managed to flee in time. That was a fun group.
I heard Halls of Dwarven Lore is a pretty rough scenario to run with some confusing errors/editing issues. So I think I'm glad I missed that one. Had a ton of fun playing Cards Against Humanity with Sheila Heidmarch and others Saturday night!

Holy smokes was this year amazingly better than last year! Michael McNerney put a lot of work into planning, and it showed. It felt much less chaotic, and there seemed to be a lot more GM support with a lot less franticism.
There were more tables this year than last year, and a lot of first timers to Origins that really stepped up to GM. There's no way this would have been as great without the can do, yes and attitude of all of the GMs. A big thanks to all of you for the prep work, the impromptu games that had to be run on the fly, and the demos in the open play area.
overall, I thought this was one of my best con experiences. There's some nit picky things that could be improved, but if we're getting down to critiquing individual tables and situations, I think that speaks volumes about the con as a whole. It was great to see a lot of old friends and make many many new friends. I'm not gonna let a few bad egg players, like the one who smelled like rotten eggs, deter me from singing the praises of the con. I recommend the event to everyone.
Hope to see everyone again next year!

Absolutely Great Con!
Mike Mcnerney did an excellent job of coordinating the event. Haats off to him and his local(and not so local) VL's who stepped up.
Had a great time with Chris Bonnet, Brent Bowser (and his awesome Shiela Hiedmarch impersonation!)
Saw many new faces as well as some familiar gamers.
We were happy to recieve some excellent prize support where every PFS player recieved a free Character Folio.
Awesome time see you guys next year.

I would like to thank all of the GMs and players who came out this year. Without you, we could not have had an awesome Origins! Last year, PFS ran 122 tables. This year we crushed that by running a total of 205 tables. That is an increase of 68% for an additional 83 tables. There was a huge influx of generics necessitating us to use all of our backup GMs. I was happy that we did not have to turn away anyone and had enough GMs to go around. We had plenty of 6 person tables with some 7 person tables scattered in. This means if we recruit more GMs, then we can run even more tables. Should anyone have any questions, concerns, praises, or PFS pictures you would like to share, you can reach me at columbuspathfindersociety@gmail.com.
Here are my highlights:
- GMs and Players showed up!
- VCs June Solar and Chris Bonnet came into town early and helped get Origins off to a great start.
- Playing my Dwarf Paladin in the midnight madness slot of King Xeros of Old Azlant.
- My Dayton VL in the midnight madness game getting paralyzed, impregnated, and taken away only to be found in the last room. At least he got to take a 3 hour nap and be fresher for the 8am slot then the rest of us.
- Mike Brock overnighting Player Portfolios for the players.
- Crowning Michael Costello as a new 5 star GM.
- Sheila Heidmarch joining us from her Manor in Magnimar.
- Zak Glade causing a distraction running through the tables shouting "For Lissala!" during Race for the Runecarved Key so that Art Lobdell could assassinate the auctioneer in dramatic fashion. This got a big round of applause.
- WBG2 table with VOs June Solar, Chris Bonnet, and Michael Costello was ridiculously fun. We had so much fun, other tables stopped to watch us. Poor Kevin Ingle had to put up with our antics. He got his revenge by nearly TPKing us. Unfortunately, Chuffy was unable to be brought back as he was nothing but a blood splatter.
Lastly, I wanted to say a big thank you to VOs June Solar, Chris Bonnet, Michael Costello, and Brent Bowser for running extra tables and helping out HQ during all your slots off.
I look forward to seeing everyone at Origins next year for an even bigger and better show!

Thanks everybody for the kind words. I am glad everyone had a good time. I hope to see you all at Origins next year.
Chris Mortika - We could have a meet and greet the Wednesday of Origins during the 1st slot since we don't run anything. That would catch all the early gamers but not the ones coming in later in the week. Could also setup something for Friday morning opening the hall early for folks to mingle.
Sin of Asmodeus - I apologize for your Halls of Dwarven Lore game not running the best. The GM who was scheduled to run it had to pull out of Origins due to a family emergency. Your GM was suppose to be running Race for the Runecarved Key but I swapped him out instead of having one of the more inexperienced GMs run it. As Greg Hurst said, that one is tough one to prep let alone run cold.
