Anyone here playing GW2? Got it this week and I am liking it. Best thing free to play.
Was wondering about creating a Pathfinder guild on it.
I am on Isle of Janthir and have 3 characters
A Ranger (not sure I like her)
Morannya Ravenwing my Necro low level at 2 or 3 human
Arylana Boldtalon 8th level Norn Warrior

I've been playing it since release, and overall I'm pretty happy with it. We tried to organize a Pathfinder guild early on with some folks here at the forums, but since we were scattered across different servers, I'm not sure what happened with it.
I play in Tarnished Coast, which is sort of GW2's Moonguard, in that it was designed by roleplayers as the go-to server. So far I've seen quite a bit of roleplaying going on, which is nice, and though we had a rocky start in WvW, we've turned out to be a surprisingly effective server in that gamemode.
My characters are Klaus van der Kroft (Norn Engineer) and Bingles Bomberbluff (Asura Warrior).

Been playing for a couple of months and find it an enjoyable diversion. My "main" is Cylyria Doth'isheal, human warrior, amd I'm am on the currently on the Sanctum of Rall server with my NWN friends.
I mostly like the fact that I can play when I want and not have to raid hardcore anymore (hello WoW)/

So Tarnished Coast is the RP server?
I find that almost all MMOPG's people really do not know how to RP and when you try they look at you funny even on the RP channels.
Might have to look into moving to that server
I love the fact I am not forking out $14+ dollars a month to play and then play only 1 or 2 hours a month. Always happy to buy a game and free to play makes it better. And this one seems good.

Sanctum of Rall!
Your server-mates were butchering us Tarnishedcoasters last night on WvW! We tried a mock-up infiltration to protect our commander by gathering 20 people with Overgrown Tonic (which turns you into some kind of huge tree abomination) so he couldn't be noticed, but we were promptly massacred.
We spent the rest of the evening trapped in our own starting fortress in your server's borderlands.

Aye. Note, though, that I have not been to other servers to check how much of a difference there is, but I regularly stumble into roleplayers in TC, and there are several hotspots that feature continous RP (such as the taverns in Lion's Gate).
It's very much like Moonguard, with with less ERP (so far).

Oh I know. I am actually on the TC server atm because of the map completion thing. I was watching that "fight" with some amusement :)
And no, I'm not spying for SoR. I just choose not to attack my servermates :D.
And yes, TC does seem to be the RP server. Running the Maw event was very different then when I do it on SoR. :)

Guesting allows you to do instances with people on other servers, and I think you can temporarily join a different server if your group is there, but isn't a good way to do generic or solo content.

It's been a hell of a week in WvW. Stormbluff Isle has been the underdog so far, but Sanctum of Rall is making us sweat blood. They are dominating two of the borderlands (last night, those poor Stormbluffers barely had a single control point in all three borderlands! Everything was under Sanctum control, except the northern half of ours).
Two days ago, however, we finally managed to break into Stonemist Castle. And oh boy did all gates of the underworld break loose. Assaults were non-stop, but we managed to get a large group of lads pulling in supply from all over the map and filled the castle with all sorts of siege machinery. I was on charge of a trebuchet near the south-western gate, and I don't think I had ever killed so many people in such a short time.
By about 10 pm, though, Sanctum managed to set up a series of their own trebuchet in locations we couldn't hit with ours, and although skirmishes managed to get three of them down, they ended up bringing our south-western walls down. We stopped that first raid, but Stormbluff took advantage of the breach and poured in. We were forced to retreat into the Lord's hall, and held there for about 1:30 hours of continous fights, filling the hallways with arrow carts an ballistae.
We were taken out almost exactly at 00:00 hours. It was a truly epic defense effort.
I'm on Tarnished Coast as well. I have a 72 ranger and a 68 or 69 guardian I'm working on mostly now.
Hey Klaus, if you're in a guild do they rp/are they recruiting? Ours died (it was just family/friends before and now it's just me and my wife still playing).
Hey! We should catch up online sometime (though I'm substantially lower-level than you. Both my mains are 22/23. Perhaps it's because 90% of what I do is PvP/WvW!).
Alas, the guild I was in disbanded, and I haven't been actively searching for one recently. I managed to convince a couple of my Pathfinder players to join in, so we're planning on getting something started one of these days, but nothing concrete. I'll give you a notice if anything carries.

Yeah, I've just reinstalled it after being bitterly disappointed at patch 5.4 in WoW (seriously, if you decide to do a Guild Wars 2-style new zone, then implement it right, not with the badly fitting WoW elements), and am looking at leveling an Elementalist.

magnuskn |

Horrible. The new zone (Timeless Isle) is tiny, laggy as all hell and just a complete grind. You get a few one-time quests to get into it and then it's just grinding mobs to collect timeless coins for some okay rewards. Two world bosses are on the island and whenever they are engaged by groups, it gets to be a total lag-fest. There are a lot of rares, but they are down in 20 seconds, so you either wait them out or chance upon them by luck.
My main is an inscriptioner and the new glyphs are obtained by, wait for it, grinding mobs! :-/
The comparison to Guild Wars 2 is that some things are event based, but compared to the elegant GW2 system, those events are not marked on the map (instead we get zone wide yells), mob tagging still is in (aside from rares) and so people are stealing mobs left and right.
This is seriously some of the worst design I've seen from the devs since the start of Cataclysm, where they overtuned every dungeon and raid and so destroyed the casual raid scene which they had built up in WotLK.
I'm waiting out until I get to kick Garrosh's behind in the new raid either in the new Flex difficulty or LFR and then I'll have to ponder on discontinueing my suscription. That damned island assuredly will not tide me over until the next expansion, like the end of Cataclysm managed to easily do.

Leveling is really no trouble in GW2. I did exploration, finding PoIs, vistas and doing hearts in one area until I was done there, then going to the next. I realize doing it again might be a bit painful, though. Anyway, I got all the XP I needed to 80 quite far ahead of schedule. Also note that you get enough picks when you level up to fill your entire skill tree, so it's not a big deal, more about finding the skills and stuff you need for what you want to do at the moment.
Divinity's reach can be a pain to wrap your head around, though.

I think that class trainers have book that resets trait points spend/talk option to reset trait points. If you ask about resetting blue skill points spend to buy skills I don't think so - you have to go earn more and buy skills you want.
Traits you reset with a book yes, and your skill points you can't reset but no worries! You can always find more skill points in the world. The GW2 wiki is pretty good for finding information on things, as is your guild(if you have one...)

Caineach |

I got the impression the number of skill points wouldn't be an issue, but wanted to ask anyway :)
Some of the necro pets are kind of a waste of points...
Once you hit 80 every would be level turns into a skill point. You may feel like you have something wasted for a few levels, but you wont miss it too much since leveling is quick.

GW2 is actually pretty nice (especially away from the PvP zones). Most of the game is PvE, and there's a certain amount of incentivizing for helping other people, so there's a good chance people will help you out if you fall and die or something. ^^ I've basically never had a bad experience. As far as my own MMO experiences have gone, GW2 is definitely among the friendliest.
