A lot of threads are popping up about suggestions regarding specifics of the game, but I think that requires too many assumptions before we even see the systems involved and how they are designed. Instead I want to discuss which basic features everyone would like to see in a game. Many games today are designed either completely with consoles in mind or at least with little regard to the extremely varied and adaptable PC platform. Of course as a PC gamer I want as much control over the software I use as possible (otherwise I'd just play on a console) and there are certain options I would like to see in any game:
Borderless windowed mode: windowed mode makes switching between activities much faster, which is necessary when setting up VOIP and checking IMs. Normal windowed mode leaves a border around the game window (like any standard Windows application has) and doesn't suit fullscreen gaming.
FOV slider: a simple slider that allows you to set your FOV easily and while immediately seeing the effect in-game. Could be done in the style of Minecraft or in a purely numerical value.
VSync: some people hate screen tearing, some people hate FPS drops. This should be a standard option in every modern game.
For those who have no idea what I'm talking about:
I'm sure everyone has these preferences in games that they just want there regardless of the specifics of the game, so post your own!

This is pretty standard but I would like to see the ability to remap keys!
Also, while not something I'm specifically interested in, I know a lot of people like having options for game controllers.
Also, want the a hot key that can hide/unhide the UI for screen captures.
Would love to have the functionality to zoom in to a first person view (assuming the game is the standard MMO 3rd Person)

Yes, definitely this. As an old-school ESDF player I can't take it when this is left out of games nowadays. Worst is when you go to "controls" and it just shows you how the keys are mapped... on a XBOX360 controller.

On a similar note, some people seem to like using "click-to-move" for movement.

I'd guess this is easy to implement, and it would also contribute to making the game known since people like taking tons of screenshots of pretty game worlds and share them with their friends.

This could probably be done pretty easily, but if you expect to have a standard FPS style camera, that would require a lot of work because every item has to get an extra model. Even more work if you consider how many possible race and items combinations there could be.

in terms of Remapping Keys this is also very helpful for those with disabilities, in one of the MMO's I play (LOTRO), one of my kinmates is paralyzed from the neck down, and use his mouth to play the game. Turbine was very helpful with getting his system set up to use the game via video conferencing, and now it is pretty amazing to watch him that straw.

Tell him to investigate the TrackIr system or one of the free alternatives.

Being able to right click on someone's name and having the option to report them for spamming, botting or some other act that's against the TOS. I know in Warhammer doing this would also take a screenshot of your screen for the GM or aid to have as a reference.
Having the ability to move the UI windows around, then save their position would be wonderful.

A lot of nice ideas
I would like the option to save the setting on one character and import it to another or send it to a friend.
The ability to move the tool tip box to another section on my screen.
The ability to lock any pop up box to a certain area of my screen.
The ability to resize move etc any of the ui similar to what lotro or rift has. Make it easy the easier the better.
will think of more later...

Lol did u just assume that...
Crowdforging is revolutionary and backers want to be haard I say use the shotgun affect and throw everything creative that you can think of then let GW pull from that. Obviously I've not seen anyone ask for holographic 3D engines for a holodeck ;p
Asking people for basic features is what we are doing... Think about this basic features for 2014-2015 are what we come up with right now... To say these mentioned bells and whistles are not basic is to be how do you say "2,000 and late" lol Sry i hate that song too but it fits.

I played WOW for a long time, and I learned a couple of things about myself:
-Playing with the interface, using addons, custom bars and similar things - while a huge timesink - is something I don't want to be without.
-Please let me jump. I know it us supremly annoying in duels, so just make it a substandart combat move, but just for moving about the landscape. This was one of the most annoying things in Kingdoms of Amalur.
-Convenience is worth quite a lot. Gaming is fun, the UI should not fight you, and I would prefer to spend as little time as possible in various windows.

The point is that you don't have to assume much about how the game will be for a feature like this:
The ability to move the tool tip box to another section on my screen.
This is a great idea because in some games it's annoying to have them either hidden underneath other important stuff or being in the way of stuff you want to see at all times (like chat). It also doesn't have to assume much about the game for this request to work: every single MMO or even RPG I've played in the last 10 years has had tool tips for things. It's practically universal.
On the other hand, if you make a thread suggesting that when you breed a horse with an otygh it should still be a mountable creature, you have to assume a lot of features will be there for your suggestion to be useful. If any one thing is missing from the game that your idea hinges on then it'll just be ignored, that's why I think it's more productive to talk about things that need less assumptions about the game.
Later when more is revealed about how the game works, we can make more specific suggestions and talk about ideas in detail.
