Hey guys. Im rolling ideas around for a witch character. Specifically a Beast-Bonded Witch. Id like to have a "bear" as a familiar, however even a baby bear is small sized (and otherwise not a listed familiar). The bear is an important part of the character's story, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a feat or something else (other than DM discretion) that can help me get there.
In theory i could take improved familiar at 1st level.....and hope that my DM would allow a small sized bear cub (rather than anything celestial/infernal, or otherwise listed).
Eventually I can take the evolved familiar feat and do something with that, but as of now does anyone know of anything to help make a familiar more viable?
Im looking at first lvl at this point.
Can i get a small sized bear as a familiar at 1st level?

Can i get a small sized bear as a familiar at 1st level?
Could you use the stats for one of the other small familiars and just describe it as a bear? Pig seems to be pretty close.

FYI, last I knew "re-skinning" mounts/familiars is not PFS legal. That may or may not affect your decision.

Also, don't get within 100 meters of the PFS forums with the words "pig" and "re-skinning." There will be klaxon sirens going off EVERYWHERE. Again.

There us a 3rd party hex, familiar growth in the super genious product 'Advanced Options, Witches Hexes' called familiar growth, which turns your familiar into an animal companion of the appropriate type. So its possible your familiar is 'masquerading' as something smallers (and legal) as a familiar, but you use this hex to turn it into a bear?

At the risk of completely derailing the thread, what was the big deal?

But then you end up with a man, and their bear-pig. This Man Bear-pig could be a scary combo...
j/k of course.

Maybe take the bear described by the druid familiar list and just making it go through familiar progression instead? I was always a bit disappointed it was small sized when even the wolf is large sized. I don't think it would be that much of a problem. Making it a familiar would mean that getting it on the unicycle would be easier.

Thanks guys. Ill definitely run this stuff by the DM. He is quite forgiving if story is good enough. If all goes well this char may be my char in a game that will take place after our current game (one i missed the first 10 years of)....what remains to be seen is what the endgame is. But justifying something usually makes a big difference.
