Can we donate the pdf's?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I have pledged for the PFO Kickstarter and will be getting a lot of 3rd party pdf's. I already own the ones I am interested in and I have the Core rulebooks as well. I was hoping there is a way I can donate these unneeded pdf's somehow.

When you download a PDF, it gets your email address watermarked on it. If you lose control of a copy of such a PDF and it ends up on a file-sharing website, Paizo is likely to close your store account. Claiming you 'got hacked' is unlikely to work, since that's a natural excuse either way.

You could change the email address you use on Kickstarter and make a new account here on Paizo, but then that new account will get the Goblin Squad symbol and access to the other GS features. It might have other unforeseen consequences related to your MMO access and in-game rewards, so I wouldn't recommend changing the email address that way.

It would be great if we got some kind of 'claim code' for each PDF, so those we don't need could be given away, but I doubt that will happen. It could be complex and cause customer service issues to sort out, and every PDF given away represents one fewer potential sale.

I understand I cannot give MY pdf's away. I was hoping for something like a "claim code" like you mentioned or that Paizo directly could give the pdf's away for me. I am not even asking for them to do it in my name. Maybe the randomly choose someones wishlist and if one of the pdf's is on it they give it to them from an anonymous donor.

I am sure I am not the only person who don't need all the pdf's from the kickstarter. That seems like a lot of wasted free pdf's that could go to someone who wants them.

Yes, I was hoping to be able to gift my Core Rulebook to my brother as I already own it in PDF and Print.

The PDFs are intended for the purchaser. If you already have some of them, you already have some of them.

I had to ask thanks for a reply.

Yes but what about those of us who buy the guild package. We get 6x the rewards which would mean 6 coppies of the pdf's, one for each member of the start up guild. My guess is they will give us some kind of coupon code or will ask for the e-mail of all the people for the accounts.

How about giving things away en masse Vic? Say if I just want the physical things like Emerald Spire and miniatures, but have a friend who would like the PDFs and to try out the game. Would there be any problem I'm not foreseeing in having all those rewards associated with the details of my friend while the books and such are sent to my address? I realise it would work if my friend pledged and then just gave me the physical things, but not sure if I'll be given a chance to give my friend's email and such for the delivery of the electronic rewards.

I notice on my "my accounts" there is a "My Pledge Drive" where we will be able to claim our Kickstarter pledge items.

Something like that. (In that case, note that you're not really splitting up a reward package, you're just telling us who the recipient of an entire reward package is. It's a pretty significant difference, as far as fulfillment goes.)

The account that claims the rewards will be the recipient of any electronic products, and will be able to provide any shipping address for the physical rewards.

So if you want all the physical stuff, and you want your friend to have *all* of the electronic products—including the Pathfinder Online portion, not just the PDFs—then your friend should be the one claiming the reward, and he should specify your address for the physical shipment.

Here's the catch: if the email address on your kickstarter account matches the email address we have for a paizo.com account, that paizo.com account will *automatically* claim the rewards. If the email address we get from Kickstarter doesn't match any existing paizo.com account, then we'll send a claim code to the email address we got from kickstarter, asking you to either create or log in to an existing paizo.com account to redeem the claim.

In short, if you really want your buddy to have the electronic goods, either:
* put his email address on the kickstarter account so he automatically becomes the party claiming the rewards
or
* make sure your paizo.com account does not use the same email address as your Kickstarter account, and when you get the claim code, give it to your buddy.

Cheers for that Vic! Sounds like it will be much more straightforward to just get my mate to make the pledge, so I'll get him to do that.
