Eidolon Build

Advice

Hey, everyone. Long-time lurker, first time poster. Gaming group I'm with is starting up a Pathfinder game, and I've chosen the Summoner as my class of preference. We're starting at level, but I like to build ahead to get an idea of what a character concept could look like. This is what I have for my eidolon. It is a 28 evolution point build (summoner takes Extra Evolution feat twice). Thoughts / advice / criticism is appreciated!

The thought process is that the eidolon is a front-line fighter focusing primarily on claw attacks while being able to compliment a diverse group as well as the summoner.

**Edit: The eidolon is missing four feats for a level twenty build.

EDIT: wait, are you asking about rules, or asking for advice?

@ rules: How did you get a fly speed of 70ft? (I'm not an expert, just curious)

@ advice: Shadow Blend (Su)* is a 2pt evolution from the Advanced Race guide, and seems like good defense.

Quote:
In any condition of illumination other than bright light, the eidolon disappears into the shadows, giving it concealment (20% miss chance). If it has the shadow form evolution, it instead gains total concealment (50% miss chance). The eidolon can suspend or resume this ability as a free action. Source: Advanced Race Guide

2 point evolution for wings (Fly 30, good maneuverability), then two additional points to increase flight speed by twenty points per evolution point.

And I haven't seen any eidolon evolutions in the Advanced Race Guide. What page would that be on?

page 111, it is under fetchlings but available to all summoners

Sczarni

Is this legal for PFS summoners?

yes, according to the additional resources page

Sczarni

What about the section that says "alternate racial evolutions are only available to characters of the associated race"?

Sczarni

For someone who has not unlocked fetching as a PFS race, I mean.

well i guess not then, i just looked under fetchling and it says they are legal. but i guess only if you have the chronicle sheet to open fetchlings.

What is the PFS, exactly?

I don't like it and I rebuilt your Eidolon (building eidolons is such a pain). I took away his energy resistance - let his spell resistance and evasion take care of most that damage. I made him large, if you remove that evolution you can have 8 more points to do as you will. You want him to be a partial front line fighter but you made him into part skill monkey, you didn't even give him all his natural attacks. Preception is fine I suppose, but he already has darkvision - why give him Low Light Vision and See in Darkness. I also don't like enchancing Dex and went for more Str instead.

Anyway this is how he looks after my changes. Extra feats are toughness, dodge, and natural armor a couple times (was just something quick for fillers). Upping the saves could be a good idea also. Of course and as always you can (and should) do what you want with your character though.

rather than resistances I'd just go straight immunities. Drop the fly speed back to 30, and improve two things to immunity.

See how your GM feels about horseshoes of speed applying to base speed and fly speed.

I'm also a HUGE fan of regeneration.

Rather than improve your eidolons skills with the skills, give them to yourself, use

Quote:
Greater Aspect (Su): At 18th level, a summoner can divert more of his eidolon's evolutions to himself. This ability functions as the aspect ability, but up to 6 evolution points can be taken. Unlike the aspect ability, the eidolon loses 1 point from its evolution pool for every 2 points (or fraction thereof) diverted to the summoner.

To let you be a skill monkey for cheap!

I recommend going half elf. Their alternate class gives an extra evolution per 4 levels, and their favored class gives the same. It prevents you from getting DR though. I think it is a good trade.

I myself play a Half-Elf Wild Caller Summoner and prefer over any other Summoner types.

1.Every 4 levels as a favored class option you get 1 extra evo point.

2.As a Wild Caller every 4 levels you get another Extra evo Point.

3.You get Summon Nature Ally in stead of Summon Monster as a class feature.

4.You are limited in what evolutions you can take, but I find that it really keeps a person sort of grounded and not have it easily get carried away with crazy evolution matching that could OP your eidolon.

Side note: The Blood God Disciple is also another very fun one to play, for both RP purposes and for game play by gifting evolutions to other players and such.
