I guess more a question of planar binding. If you could summon this creature once per day at most, an outsider of up to 12HD (Bestiarys only, no create your own celestial or half fiend) - what would you pick?
I of course really want to say Efreeti.. Three wishes a day! Free! But not sure how impressed he would be about it. LE and all.
Couatl would be another good option.. Plane Shift you out of a tight spot.

Efreeti is by far the best option.
Think about it this way.
You have to be an 11th level wizard to take it. An Efreeti is a CR 8 creature. Yeah, it's lawful evil and malicious and all that good stuff, but it's not really that huge of a threat to you by level 11. Just don't over work the damn thing to death and give it a puppy to kick every once in a while and it should be happy.
As with all planar binding derivatives, True Name is a Your-Mileage-May-Vary discovery.
Ask your DM before selecting it. If he's going to be a pain about it, it might be worth looking at something else.

Wait until 15th level (when the outsider can have up to 18 HD) and select an immolation devil (Bestiary 2): 18 HD, CR 19. Works best if the wizard is evil of course; even better if using some of the rules in Book of the Damned, Vol. 3, Horsemen of the Apocalypse (specifically, the section on The Soul Trade detailing value for captured souls, the spell create soul gem, and the magic item talisman of soul eating; a NE wizard with a cacodaemon familiar from the Improved Familiar feat can also harvest souls). Using souls as payment for services (at value in line with planar binding spells), even though they are not required, can keep the outsider from getting too upset at the wizard.

All are at least CR 8 (not too weak to help in fights that 11th level characters face) and neither native outsiders (that cannot be called) nor so alien/hostile/etc. as to make their use problematical (aeons, nabasu demons, qlippoth, etc.).
