EK Familiar or Bonded Item?

If you are planning on going EK from 1 Fighter / 5 Wizard, is there any reason to chose the bonded item over an animal familiar?

You just have to keep him hiding, and out of sight a lot.

it depends. Do your group play with crafting feats, doyou have some crafting feats? If for some reason you do not have acces to craftin then the bonded item will be better in the long run.
