Just how high can you get your diplomacy?

I ask because I played PFS alongside a summoner not too long ago who had, if memory serves, a +26 to diplomacy at 5th level. He had no spells active at the time, and his eidolon was not the one making the check.

Things I know:
5th level
Gnome
Pure summoner (no multiclassing)
20 CHA
No active spells

So, can you reproduce it? I'm really curious how to get such a high diplomacy modifier. First person to post a PFS-legal method of getting +26 diplomacy within the above constraints wins an internet cookie!

5 ranks
3 class skill
5 ability mod
3 skill focus (diplomacy)
1 gift of tongues (gnome alt trait)
1 ease of faith trait
3 circlet of persuasion
2 persuasive feat
=
23

Just 3 away! damn I wanted that cookie!

NO COOKIE FOR YOU! COME BACK, ONE YEAR!

2 probably came from a masterwork diplomacy tool, which as of UE cannot be universal and must be purchased for a particular circumstance. If they had the Sarenrae trait Illuminator instead of Ease of Faith, that does it.

PLUS

1 headband (headband slot =/= head slot)
2 Masterwork Tool (Diplomacy for your situation)

5th level? Check
Gnome? Check
Pure summoner? Check
20 CHA? Check
No active spells? Check

I'll split that cookie with you, Ishmell.

Is there a feat that boosts the bonus from the aid another action from +2 to +3? if so, the eidolon could easily get a high enough Diplomacy bonus to make his aid attempts succeed automatically, and a +3 from that aid would make up the last +3.

You have been ninjaed! But yes, with the headband too it could make it +27,

What headband do you mean?

Even better, Ease of Faith and Illuminator (unless my memory fails me) are two different types of traits (Faith and Religion.) MORE DIPLOMACY.

Someone needs to do a full audit on "that" person's PC.

I've only seen uproar like this once before in society play.

I got it, in PFS its possible to earn fame in your faction. It's also possible to earn 2 fame per scenario, and assuming 3 scenarios per level that could total 30 fame. You get a +1 cumulative bonus to diplomacy for every 10 fame you have in that faction and when the diplomacy check opposes a faction member.

So in conclusion....
5 ranks
3 class skill
5 ability mod
3 skill focus (diplomacy)
1 gift of tongues (gnome alt trait)
1 ease of faith trait
3 circlet of persuasion
2 persuasive feat
3 fame (assuming against faction member)
=
+26 to diplomacy

and boom goes the dynamite

Sovereign Court

The classic-est one of all, of course.

PFS or not...

Traits (2):
Ease of Faith Trait : Makes Diplomacy a class skill (+3), adds a +1 also.
Patient Optimist Trait: +2
Total: +6

Alternate Racial Trait (1):
Gift of Tongues: +1 to Diplomacy
Total: +1

Skill Ranks:
5 ranks in Diplomacy
Total: +5

Attribute Bonus:
+5 CHA bonus
Total: +5

Feats:
Skill Focus: Diplomacy (+3)
Persuasive: +2 to Diplomacy
Voice of the Sibyl: +1 to Diplomacy
Total: +6

Gear:
Circlet of Persuasion: +3 Diplomacy

Total +26 to Diplomacy

Yes, but they both grant trait bonuses, so no dice.

Who said anything about an "uproar"?

Close as I can get:
20 Chr (+5), Rank 5 (+5), Class Skill (+3), Trait Bonus (+1), Gnome Racial Gift of Tongues (+1), Skill Focus (Dilpomacy)(+3),
Persuasive (+2), Rhetorical Flourish (gives +4 Dilpomacy after a successful Bluff check). That's +24 and, if he had a Circlet of Persuasion, +27.

So you mean you counted the modifier for 20 CHA, then used an item to increase his CHA beyond the specified 20? That's what I thought.

NO COOKIE FOR YOU! COME BACK, ONE YEAR!

There's another Faith trait that gives +4 to one check... I think it's Shelynite. So all the above, and swap in that trait.

So uh do I get the cookie or did I mess something up because man that is like the most focused post I will probably ever write unless someone asks me to like apologize to Chris Lambertz for all the terrible posts I write that must be removed.

I'm sorry Chris Lambertz. I'm sorry for my terrible terrible posts that you have to remove.

But-- what if it was the first 24 hours?!? Then it was just a temporary bonus, which kind of-- Imps appear, dragging me down into the ground. No! His stat is STILL technically 20 if he takes the headband off before Jiggy looks at his sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Just remembered something: I think the player said something about his "obsession". I know gnomes have an "obsessive" racial trait that boosts a craft or profession skill; is there a way to shift that to diplomacy?

Not you, as far as I know.

The people who are sick of playing a table where they aren't needed made the uproar.

Nope. They can trade it out for knowledge or climb skill bonuses, but not diplomacy.

Man I am starting to think this cookie is a lie.

Wait, that chocolate looks wrinkly and--RAISINS? Why, Jiggy, whyyyyyyyyy!

Man with a +26 to Diplomacy I can just reason my way to utterly insane piles of cookies.

Sczarni

I'm taking my 25 diplomacy over to Famous Amos and talking them into letting me have free cookies (aka I'm taking a tour and they always give out free cookies at the end fresh from the line)
