Advice

I'm playing a level 10 fighter, a pretty vanilla 2 handed build. My group has recently had some trouble with a ninja, and I feel that for both reasons of revenge, and to prevent future trouble, I'd like to focus more on fighting rogues and ninjas. So far, my main obstacle seems to be losing the initiative and taking a ton of sneak attack damage in round 1. Can anyone recommend some feats or equipment to level the playing field?

Fortification on your armor is a no-brainer here.

Other than that: please post your character sheet so that we know what we're working with.

The Exchange

Improved Initiative, Belts of Dexterity, allies with Initiative Boosting class options(Certain Clerics can make you reroll, if I remember correctly), high Perception, insane damage dealing weapons and artifacts, and just plain luck.

Really, focusing on the sneakies is the best way to take them down. Imagine... your entire party blasting all their coolio stuff in 1 round at 1 target. Unless they have saves and health up the wazoo, they're done for.

Get Fortification Enchant on your Armor for one... Miss chance is also nice, Mistmail is ok for that or a cloak of displacement. If there invis i would get an item that does invis purge or that gives u see invis.. Other than that maybe a con booster item so u just outlast em.. Depending on ur build you should be able to 2 round a level equivalent rogue or ninja...

Miss chance is excellent to nullify precision damage. Few have the Shadowstrike feat.

Fight in dim light

Use Obscuring Mist, Blur, or displacement if you can.

there is the inquisitor spell unwilling shield, get another player to use scrolls of this to cast on you. The attacker will take half the damage they do to you, and you only take half. That should be an eye opener the next time they attack.

I would get moderate fortification enhancement on ur fullplate over the cloak for now.. Resistance Cloak is almost a muct for a fighter due to already low saves..

I took a look at that, and although it would be hilarious, I would need to pick up enough Use Magic Device to use the scroll myself. The spell seems to be one that works on the caster and his opponent, as opposed to someone the caster chooses and an opponent.

I'm just gonna remember that spell for later, though.

I'm not getting rid of the Cloak of Resistance. My party can improve my cloak for me, and add a Displacement Minor effect for 18000gp. They can't enchant the armor until level 13, so I'd have to spend 27000 on that right now. At level 13, that will change, but for now, the Cloak is simply a cheaper option, and it will completely negate sneak attacks unless my opponent uses True Seeing.
