Eidolon rend rules?

So the restatement of the rules for rend for a eidolon confuses me. Is it just rend from universal monster rules?

The rend rules say you may only do it once per round.
But the eidolon rend does not say this. Is it just an imperfect restatement of the rules, or do I actually get to do it more than once? Like if I hit with 4 claw attacks.

Also: Does power attack apply? I found another thread about this, but it was just a bunch of people bickering. I would say it does apply. The reason being is power attack says it applies to all damage rolls, and you roll a claw damage roll for the rend damage. It says it deals

"This damage is equal to the damage dealt by one claw attack plus 1-1/2 times the eidolon's Strength modifier". I would assume this would include any damage modifiers that are on the claw attack.

Also: Does energy attacks apply? The text does not state that this is a natural attack, so I would guess not.

Also: If power attack DOES apply, it would deal 1.5x damage because this is an attack that deals 1.5x str that is natural.

James Jacob specifically said it would be imba so it shouldn't be allowed. I FAQ'd it. I would assume by the same means that energy attacks would then not apply.

Another question I have since my summoner leveled to 8 last session.

Does the rend count toward your total attack numbers? So I'd take 3 claw attacks and then, hopefully, get the rend? Or 4 claw attacks and, hopefully, the rend?

The Eidolon uses the eidolon's version of the rules, not the UMR version. See the rake point there.

Mark Moreland said here that rend would get the PA damage. There's a bit of debate about that one though, as you've found.

It does not count towards your maximum number of attacks with natural weapons. So if you made 3 attacks, hit with 2, and then took your rend, you could still take your 4th attack.
